Two weeks ago I was there to deposit a check, the teller deposited the check to my checking account with asking if I want to deposit to saving account, I was disappinted. I will think twice before going there again.

Good place to do your banking, friendly staff that will help when you need it.

@ leonard bedford. The teller was following the protocol that he should. He needs the full account number to allow the deposit. The transit number identifies the branch at which the account is held.

The debit card is like a key. Asking to make a deposit based on a debit card number is like asking which house the key will work to open. If the teller had given you that information, it would have been a gross violation of the account holder's security and could result in identity theft.

Perhaps the teller does not understand policy, but the branch manager would and you could have requested to speak with that person and received an explanation of why the teller could not accommodate your request.

Ridiculous fees for transferring RRSPs to another bank, and poor service in general.

I went to this branch to deposit cheques into my friends account who was in Europe. I was given his full check number and debit card number. I didn't know at the time what they were but just the two numbers broken into their correct spaces. I had the cheques as they had arrived from Ab Govt. and and insurance company that included the name and address. Harinder- the teller simply asked what was the transfer number- whatever that mean?? I told him that the two numbers were all I had and suggested he should be able to look up the account indicating that one of the two numbers should be the cheques numbers. He didn't even look at the numbers but simply snapped his elastic band. I asked many times "are you sure there is nothing you can do" "No" was his answer. I left to find another CIBC to deposit the cheques. THE BANK WAS EMPTY WITH NO ONE WAITING. HE SIMPLY WAS LAZY AND DIDN'T CARE. Going to suggest my friends change banks if they want me to deposit their cheques in the future
