"In my sport, I’m one of the older guys. DH skateboarding is incredibly demanding, it requires balance, strategy, strength and nerves of steel; not to mention a high pain tolerance!
I started falling behind some of my younger competitors in recent years, especially on the race starts, which are as important as a bobsled or luge start. In as little as 4 months I already was able to explode off the line faster, tuck harder and hold better position through high speed corners without having to drop my body to compensate for the G-forces. Last summer I placed third at the Provincial Championships, not far behind world class skaters.
I am confident the only time I will see another racer in front of me is because I want them there for their draft. Nick and the rest of the team have worked with me through every injury, set back and plateau.
