Alfajores are a South American delicacy. Something between a cookie, dessert and chocolate truffle. They are two cookies (shortbread type) filled with dulce de leche (milk caramel spread) or fruit jam. Some of them are also covered in chocolate

When do people eat alfajores?
We usually bring them as souvenirs from our trips, serve them at parties or enjoy them with a cup of coffee, tea, or mate (Argentinean green tea). Really, there's no rules, we eat them all the time!
