Kennedy is a 15 year old girl who has become part of the Play Safe Campaign in order to educate and prevent young children and teens from participating in dangerous activities that could negatively impact their lives forever. When Kennedy was 13, her and a friend went into a Calgary train yard with the intention of train hopping. While attempting to climb onto the moving train, Kennedy was dragged and her left leg got stuck under the train wheels. She was sent to the hospital... and made the tough decision to amputate her leg. Kennedy approaches life now with an optimistic attitude and decided she is going to “make the best of things” instead of being upset for the rest of her life. Her accident has opened up many opportunities for Kennedy to find new passions and enjoy her life by pushing and challenging herself. She encourages everyone to try and take a negative and turn it into a positive because it helps to make life so much easier and more enjoyable. http://www.cbc.ca/…/war-amps-calgary-te en-amputee-urges-pla…

Holly has been an amputee for one year. She lost her left arm and part of her shoulder due to cancer. She has had to overcome many challenges and re-learn many things such as brushing her teeth, driving, and re-establishing a sense of balance. She encourages new amputees to celebrate their success every day and find things to be thankful for rather than dwelling on the negatives.

Samantha has been an amputee since she was eight years old. She is now 24 years old and has had to overcome many challenges and struggles but overtime she learnt to overcome these challenges in order to do what she loves. The advice Samantha gives to other amputees is to never give up, as difficult as a task or sport may be, there is always a way to do it and continue doing what you love.

Another patient of ours has been seeing Tabor as his prosthetist. Having a prosthetic has given him a sense of mobility since he became an amputee in 2015. In his journey he has had to overcome many challenges such as being impatient, frustrated, and angry. His advice to new amputees is to be patient as it will get better, practice anger management, as well as be kind to the people around you. We are so thrilled to be able to make a difference in peoples lives by being able to provide them with prosthetics and orthotics. #prosthetics #orthotics #perseverence #colman

Sharon is a patient of ours who has been seeing Mark as her Orthotist. Sharon has been wearing two braces on her ankles for over 20 years to prevent her ankles from turning on the side and to keep her feet straighter. A Long with these braces, Sharon has had multiple surgeries, which has contributed to making mobility easier for her. In Sharon’s words, "because if his [Mark's] expertise I feel quite at ease, I am receiving the best care." We at Colman are inspired by Sharon's story, and feel lucky to have the opportunity to work with her. #colman #inspiration #orthotics

The custom insoles made for me by Tabor help my feet to feel good, even after a full day of walking. I travel with them everywhere. Thank you, Tabor! I also commend Colman for their humanitarian work in less developed countries. Kudos!
