Another day, another adventure.

We sure love snow-capped peaks around here but we also can't deny how beautiful the bare mountains of late summer are as well. Do you have a preference?
Side note: Ben Waugh sure knows how to capture a beautiful scene!
Throwback Thursday! Looking in on Columbia Icefield back in the day. Does anyone have a guess for what year this is?
Need a reason to hit the trails this weekend? We've got five! Plus a few of our favourite hikes in the United States and Canada.

Social Media Ambassador, Ben Waugh, will be taking over our Instagram account for the next few days! Follow along as he shares his unique perspective on life in the heart of the Canadian Rockies.

Here's another hike suggestion from Ben.This time Ben recommends Geraldine Lake near Jasper. This trail will take you past two lakes and two waterfalls. A moderately strenuous trek, the roundtrip distance is about 12K, check it out!
It may seem like it's all about getting on the ice at the Glacier Discovery Centre but there's lots to learn too. While you're here, grab a coffee and wonder around the gallery downstairs for a little peek back in time. The retro images are super cool. #Flashback
Looking for something to do this weekend? Ben recommends checking out Rockbound Lake. He says it's an awesome hike around 15K return, pretty easy hiking not too much elevation gain. Plus, the views are super rewarding!
Check it out on your way to the icefield.
Meet Ben Waugh! Ben is the Social Media Ambassador at Columbia Icefield Glacier Adventure this year. In addition to his duties as a driver, Ben will also collect social media content at the icefield to share across Pursuit social channels.
Here's a bit about Ben: He's an Australian Graphic Designer & Photographer who is currently living and working in Canada for two years. He's a fan of adventure & travel as well as trying new things. Ben says, "I've gone from living at the ...beach in Queensland to living in the Canadian Rockies and it's one of the best things I've ever done"
He's excited to bring all of you great content from the icefields this summer. Ben is so talented and we're lucky to have him in this role this summer!

UPDATE:
We are pleased to advise that the weather has improved at the Columbia Icefield. The Glacier Skywalk & Columbia Icefield Glacier Adventure are fully operational.
Thank you and we hope to see you soon.
it was an awesome experience. The drivers were young but do not allow that to fool you. These young explorers are knowledgeable of the stories and histories of the Glacier. A must see in your lifetime.
We had an amazing guide, Ben. He was not only knowlegeable, but also entertaining. The glaciers are spetacular and this adventure is not to be missed.
WOW! I am Ralph D. Bruce from Kentucky, I drove up to Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada in May 2000. I drove 5,500 miles up there and back to Kentucky. I LOVE everything about Alberta, Canada. I stayed in Beautiful/Gorgeous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. I can't say enough about Canada....!!!!
Very well coordinated trip maximising time on the glacier. Good humour by drivers mixing just enough technical information with the one liners. It was not as cold as I anticipated.
This was our first time in Canadian Rockies. Every day was special but this day was special and unique. Rare to see glaciers but even rarer to have this type of access. Kids loved every part of our day on the Icefields as well as on the Skywalk. Staff was very friendly and bus times were right on schedule. They do a great job of moving people to and from glacier efficiently. We will be back!!
This is an experience that can not be easily matched. The granduer of the ice fields and the glacier are amazing. Our driver Ben added to the experience
So incredible place, too beautiful to describle, must come here once in your lifetime.
It’s nice to visit this place, my first time to feel what’s on the glaciers.
I would go back today if I could! The scenery is beyond beautiful. It causes one to reflect on what a wonderful creation we live in. You must go. Take your time and absorb the wonder of it all! Fishing in glacial lakes is good too
I love it!! Peter was great he save my daughters while she ran away far into the Ice field. He was very professional and he is also very funny and nice.
Had a great time visiting the Columbia Icefields. Being able to see & step out in the Glacier was an excellent experience. The SnowCat driver James was Excellent!! We went into the skywalk. Beautiful sight of the Mountains & Glacier. Take advantage of the tour guide. He added more to the walking tour.
Fantastic experience ,would say to do the first trip of the day . Main centre gets very crowded . We had very knowledgeable drivers , Sego,Phil,Tia ,Shannon all did a great job . Staff in main centre very grumpy and unhelpful . Washroom areas a disgrace after centre had been open a few hours . Fantastic experience as said but what damage does all this activity do
Columbia Icefield and the Athabaska glacier were just amazing. I loved the ice explorer ride but especially our driver, Fraser Kerr! Fraser is Scottish with a great brogue who reminded me of my dad who was Scottish. Fraser was knowledgeable, friendly and had a great sense of humor! He’s very easy on the eyes as well 😉
Our Icefiel Glacier tour was great!
Very friendly Busdrivers and Staff.
Our guide to the Glacier, Ben, was great.
We had a lot of fund, get a few nice information and had a really wonderful time.
Thumbs Up!
The bad thing was, that I need to pay the Skywalk too. I'm panic in high, so I can't walk on it. But the pictures I saw and stories I heard were pretty beautiful.
Me and my wife walked in from the highway. Its free that way. Get out of your car and go experience it. Stop relying on other tour buses to carry your ass around and stop feeding the capitalist monster. Its better walked anyways. If you can handle it.
Loved the experience, all the staff were very knowledgable and friendly. Andrew our driver for the ice explorer was fantastic he was funny and really new his facts and gave us lots of info. My only negative I found was the fact you were not made aware you would not have access to a bathroom for 2 hours. Outside portables at the skywalk site would have been great. This made for an uncomfortable situation for several guests that day. Otherwise happy with the overall experience.
A great place to visit, especially to people like us who are from Asia where there are never snowing. The Glacier Adventures was really exited, especially to the adventure vehicles and the young female drivers whe have proven to be very skilful.
The actual experience of the icefields were amazing however the prices for the tour and food was extremely outrageous. My fiance and I paid $72 for 2 sandwiches, 2 pop, a slice of pizza, a burger and 2 desserts. The lineups were huge and they screwed up on our online ticket orders. I would recommend viewing from the public area and bringing your own food.
Somewhat over rated, disgracefully overpriced and when we realised that THEY made a mistake with our tickets and just left us hanging around for 20 minutes, the so called manager....... who by the way is the rudest Canadian i have met on my travels, spoke to us like a piece of sh*t and did not apologise for their mistake either!
My advice is, stop and have a coffee and take in the view, save your $200 and drive away. The whole experience 2 out of 10.
