Commons Church

About Commons Church

Intellectually honest. Spiritually passionate. Jesus at the centre.

Commons Church Description

As a Christian community that strives to live, play and help in the urban neighbourhoods of Calgary, we have chosen the name Commons Church to indicate our commitment to making the Kingdom of God tangible in our space.

We believe God is invested in the renewal of all things therefore we want to live the "Good News" by being part of the rhythms of our city as good neighbours, good friends, and good citizens in the common life of Kensington.

What can I say about this place, but that it is home for us! We love seeing it evolve and grow and flourish because of the communities and the people! Love the staff, love the biblical, insightful and relatable teaching, love the diversity of people attending and love, love, love the worship!! I’d give it 10 stars if I could!

This has been my church community for a long time. It is a delight to see how in the years since the launch, this community has grown, developed and matured in many ways. For those looking for a place of peace, of acceptance and to learn more about the Christian narrative in a new light! This place is for you.

I’ve been at commons for three years now and there is no place I would rather come to for my Sunday message. Intellectually honest is my favourite tenant of this congregation of course with Jesus at the centre and I love how much we are engaged as a community with segues to get to know one another in fellowship. I have both been to and hosted a dinner party as well as attended the pub after 7pm service and I would love to start getting into small group as I’ve heard amazing things from that as well. When two or more gather in my name I am there says the Lord, and He certainly is present within the walls of Commons.

I've visited three times now because my sister and Dad go here. We live in Edmonton, but I was telling my husband after yesterday's visit that if we lived in Calgary this is where I would like to make my church home. A very welcoming church.

Commons has become my Village. My husband doesn't attend church with us, and the Kids Church volunteers are amazing with my son who has some anxiety and challenges. I really appreciate Jeremy's speaking and especially loved his series on Loneliness.
