Communitywise Resource Centre

About Communitywise Resource Centre

CommunityWise Resource Centre serves over 60 member organizations including arts and culture, immigrant community associations, youth serving agencies, LGBTQ community resources, environmental advocacy, social justice work and more. We facilitate access to shared resources, office space and networking opportunities for these non-profit community groups who in turn provide their services for the citizens of Calgary and the general public. The building we occupy is the heart of what we do, and we like to say it is distinguished for being the oldest, purpose-built, social service facility in the city of Calgary. It became a registered Heritage Building in 1982 and celebrated its hundredth anniversary in 2011. Since the 1970s, the building has housed dozens of diverse community-serving, grass-roots and non-profit agencies who collectively lease the building from the city of Calgary and manage the operations through a tenant's ssociation Board of Directors. Mission: -To provide access to space and shared resources for diverse, progressive, community organizing in Calgary and area-To perform an active role in facilitating community development, connections and synergy through democratic process, diverse and inclusive programming and intentional design of our shared space-To practice stewardship of our built and natural environment as we maintain and restore the heritage features of the building, making history relevant and accessible
