About Connectingcalgary

With the long-term vision to continuously develop innovative programs and services for immigrants and refugees, CCIS recognized the need to support entrepreneurialism among newcomers. The Networking for Success Small Business is an initiative derived from CCIS' Networking for Success program, whose shared objective is to create platforms for newcomers to integrate into the Calgary labour market by enhancing social capital and creating valuable connections within the business community. CCIS' Small Business Symposium, Networking for Success Small Business' annual signature event, highlights entrepreneurialism among newcomers as small business ownership creates opportunities for meaningful economic participation and supports economic diversification. The theme of this year's Symposium centres on opportunities for success created by entrepreneurship, both for the individual and the local economy, as well as the timeliness to embark on a bold challenge given the new decade and changes in industry. During this full-day event, attendees are provided with a unique opportunity to gain information from subject matter experts and expand their professional networks. Additionally, the Global Marketplace is a venue for attendees to exhibit and learn about newcomer-owned small businesses in Calgary. .
