Country C.A.T Quilting Description

Christine Anne Tessier is a professional hand guided long-arm quilter with over 10 years of experience. She is proud to be one of the first in the Calgary /Okotoks AB area to offer this unique service.

Quote: “I never tire of the process of long-arm quilting. There is always more to learn and create, more to challenge and more to be inspired by. I am grateful for the opportunity to share this passion with my customers and to have a part in the completion of each beautiful work of art that comes my way. ”

Christine enjoys being in a service for others. She takes great care in her attention to detail with the desire that every quilting project exceeds the expectations of her customers. Continually meeting new people, sharing laughter and sometimes tears along the way provide inspiration for doing what is truly one of her great passions in her life.
Christine’s talent as a gifted long-arm quilter is the culmination of a lifetime spent immersed in the exploration of crafts and textile art. She discovered her gifts and talents in the textile arts at a very young age. Growing up in a large family on a farm meant necessity was the mother of invention. Assisting her mother with sewing projects, curiosity and creativity gave Christine the ability to design and create her own wardrobe and led her into a 20 year career in garment sewing, including tailored men’s and women’s wedding attire. Throughout the years she branched out into fine arts and crafts, selling hundreds of her artistic creations in local art markets. Her creative expression grew through various mediums such as Ceramic paintings for decorative home décor and wall art, exquisite floral designs for table top, swag wall hangings, wreaths, soft dolls and beautifully hand crafted porcelain dolls with intricate embroidered and lace dresses.

An opportunity to work in a quilting store gave Christine a whole new vision of possibilities. She learned the art of quilt making by taking classes in piecework design, various top quilting and new embroidery techniques. She was inspired by working with customers assisting them to match colors and patterns for their projects and by doing in-store demonstrations on different quilt making techniques. Christine began challenging herself to create larger and more intricate quilts for display in the store and local quilting shows.

Increased size and complexity of her quilting projects motivated her to purchase her first long-arm quilting machine. By attending several classes with professional long-arm quilters including Darlene Epp at Trillium house, Karen McTavish, Kim Brunner and Carol Selepec, Christine was able to establish her own professional quilting business.
Long-arm quilting is the perfect fit for Christine. Drawing from intuition, artistic talent, professional training, a passion for sewing and creativity and her drive to do the best for others, Christine continues to excel as a long-arm quilter.

Christine’s intentions are to continue to expand her resources and abilities as a professional in order to offer excellence and top quality services to her customers in the long-arm quilting industry. Expansions of her business are in the future as well. Christine’s dream is to have a facility to hold sewing retreats and getaways for personal and spiritual well being.
