About Curecancer

We are a student-led community of researchers at CRINA, University of Alberta studying cancer and developing more effective treatments and diagnostics.

Curecancer Description

We are an open community of researchers in Edmonton, Canada studying how cancer develops and developing more effective treatments and detection systems.

Our members collaborate with global consortia to discover new therapeutic agents. We welcome new members and supporters to meet up or join at no cost. Our local partners include CRINA, DiscoveryLab, the Edmonton Prospects, Edmonton River and NANUC.

Our aim is to design better medicines for patients at lower cost, thus improving healthcare for everyone.

CureCancer was initiated by Michael Overduin and coworkers with a grant from the John R. Evans Leaders Fund awarded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and Alberta Innovates.

The funding was announced in Edmonton by the Minister of Science Kirsty Duncan on March 14, 2016. The press included the CBC, Edmonton Journal and Sun, iNews, University of Alberta and Global News.
