About Dave Goodwin
As a former teacher and a current Clearview School Board Trustee for Ward 3, Dave Goodwin is deeply invested in the quality of education Clearview students receive.
Dave uses his first-hand teaching experience, time as a parent, and his business acumen to help him make informed decisions as a trustee. Being a conduit between the parents in the Clearview Public Schools, the school board and the provincial government is something Dave prides himself on. Dave has spent a lot of time meeting with government officials and believes the best way for our school system to thrive is to continue to develop relationships and express our division policies and positions to our provincial government. As a self-employed entrepreneur and an empty nester, Dave can easily adjust his schedule, and for him, his responsibilities as a trustee always comes first.
Since Dave formally taught math, art and music and had four children go through Clearview’s school system, Dave knows how fundamental it is for parents to have their voice heard. As a math teacher and business owner Dave understands the financial aspects of being a Trustee. Even with none of his children any longer attending Clearview schools, Dave and his wife Barbara-Lynn still have a deep connection; their grandchildren now attend Stettler Elementary.
Dave’s last four years as a trustee are something he’s proud of. Some of his biggest accomplishments as a trustee were:
-Working collaboratively and co-operatively with fellow Board members
-Developing realistic and forward-thinking division policies and goals
-Working with other trustees from surrounding school divisions
-Keeping the entire school division in mind when making decisions
-Always putting the STUDENTS first
