Dhamma Karuṇā - Alberta Vipassana Centre Description

Vipassana means to see things how they really are. Vipassana meditation is self-purification by self-observation. It can be freely practiced by anyone without conflict due to race, community or religion. Course participants live at the centre for the duration of the course and the retreats are done in silence.
Dhamma Karuṇā Meditation Centre is in the village of Youngstown, Alberta – a small farming village in the Canadian Badlands and the heart of the prairies. This location is renowned for its wildlife, especially birds. Dhamma Karuṇā serves four major cities in Alberta and Saskatchewan all within driving range: Edmonton and Calgary; Regina, and Saskatoon.

The ten-day Vipassana course starting on September 5, 2018 is in need of servers. Please consider applying to serve online at karuna.dhamma.org. Read more about Dhamma Service and developing your pāramīs in a pdf of Questions and Answers by Goenkaji at https://www.dhamma.org/en/service. An excerpt: "When you come to a 10-day course and give service, you will find that you get an opportunity to develop all the 10 pāramīs. As you are meditating in a 10-day course you are generating pāramīs, all the 10 pāramīs are becoming stronger, stronger. So also while you’re serving in this atmosphere. Little by little you are developing each of your pāramīs."

This is a wonderful facility for insight, healing, presence, peace, all gained through hard work. Learn a universal technique to understand how to heal yourself, work hard and consistently, and the results can be life changing. I have nothing but gratitude for what this place has made possible for myself and others. This is certainly no holiday, but if your suffering, you may find answers here when you are ready. Peace and happiness.

I went there as a student and became a Master @ the end of the Ten days. The most beautiful experience for self healing. I went back as a server for tens days made positive life changes. I would love to go back again for Peace of Mind.

I attended this course 3 times. If you want to change your life for better then make affort and try it. You will realize that it is the smartest decision you ever took.

User

Hard work, but amazing rewards. I am working hard to incorporate meditation into my daily routine and have already realized some huge benefits. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to serve us. I will return to serve in 2018.

User

Got all my answers in day 9. Worth waiting patiently in each day. It is so hard but so worth. I feel amazing and so strong to live my life now. Best choice ever!!!

User

Fantastic place, people and atmosphere. Weird at the beginning but at the end everything makes sense. Would like to come again!

User

The centre was great. Everything was organized and ran well. The teachers and managers were really helpful. The food was excellent. My ability to sit for longer periods has improved. I have a greater apreciation of meditation after attending this course. Unfortunately this method didn't work for me. I know it does work I simply failed at it. I tried really hard but failed to gain any insight. I have been home about a week and feel totaly depressed.
