been a customer for years.....their fish and chips are the closest ones I've found to the ones my Grandpa used to treat me to when I was a kid!

User

When l first met my wife Lynn we would drive to Spruce from Edmonton for fish and chips Docherty's was her favorite! Fast forward to today l didn't feel like cooking and didn't want to order another crappy pizza or get chicken from Mary Brown's as we now live in Spruce Grove and love it. I ordered from Docherty's got the six and six meal to feed the family service was great the two girls behind the counter looked like they had a busy night but were up for the challenge very friendly. Anyways to stay on track the food was great same quality as when l first had date nights with my wife 15 years ago. The portions are amazing keep it up l am glad to become a regular again hope to see you soon thank you!

We stopped in to get a family meal to go and it was made quickly, the service we received was awesome and it tasted fantastic. We will definitely be back :)

User

Way to Go Emily!! Just left and my husband & I had a lovely lunch. Perfectly cooked Haddock Mmmm mmm. More so the wonderful service given by Emily made our day. Hopefully she is there when we return.

Ordered delivery for dinner New Years. First time ever trying Docherty's. The owner new we were first timers and gave us significantly more food than expected so we could try other things. Awesome service and the food was on par. The only thing we thought missing was tarter sauce and cocktail sauce. Just as we sat down to eat, someone else rang the doorbell. They had missed it when they sent the delivery, so they sent someone else with it! Very impressed. They even included malt vinegar as well as jam for our fritters.

User

I love the fresh chips and fish is always tasty and huge portions! Really nice atmosphere in restaurant and very nice staff and owner.

User

I have eaten here a few times now as we (my family) have just moved to Spruce Grove. Coming from the maritimes this is as close as it gets to seafood cooked like home. We have tryed other restaurants, Docherty's is most definitely the best in Alberta.

User

Excellent fish and chips! Huge pieces of haddock and the batter is light and crispy. Home made chips too.

User

Best place in Spruce Grove for fish and chips. Plus, the clam strips are delightful.

Also, everyone needs to try the deep fried pickles with tarter sauce.

Savoury and melt in the mouth goodness is how I describe this place to friends and loved ones.

User

Best place ever to eat! good company! good food! good everything! I highly recommend it to everyone very family-orientated as well!

User

The fish was really nice. I like the chips to be a wee bit bigger like from back home.

Next time I think I will just order the fish. And would love to have big chippy onions.

User

Fish was very good and not the least bit greasy. Chips were a bit soft but nice to see they weren't covered in salt, we can add salt ourselves. Only a bit disappointed with the Mushy Peas as I just returned recently from England and true English mushy peas were Fresh or frozen (not canned) bright green mashed peas. But all in all we'll be back for more fish and maybe try something else from the British Menu as well as the corn fritters, we just didn't have enough room for more.

User

We heard such good reviews but were underwhelmed. We were hoping it would match or outshine Brits Fish and chips in the city, but it didn't. The fries were barely warm and soggy and the haddock(which we love) was slightly fishy, so not the freshest and the batter slightly soggy by the end of the meal. Not sure if we will give it a second try. We were quite disappointed.

User

I think I went on an off day the fish had no flavour and was rubbery. However I will go back another day just because everyone I know insists it the best place east of the west coast..... oh but the fries where Amazing!

User

Dochertys Fish and Chips and Wee Pub in Spruce Grove...OMG! Soppy, sloppy, under cooked, dark brown chips. It's a fish and chip place! How do you NOT know how to make chips??? Fish was all curled up..means it's too thin, so overcooked and rubbery. Haggis...in little rounds and deep fried in a horrible, thick hard batter???? Disgusting

User

Usually the food is ok and sometimes great. A hit and miss there. Ordered fish and scallops was a bit greasy. The scallops seemed like fish and not so great. But I'll try again at a later date.

User

Usually the food and service is great. But last night was a mess in SO many ways... 1st girl at till had no idea I wanted 3 meals... 1 piece hadock.. meal. and other two meals with 2 pieces each with Hadock meals... sed this and she even printed it... and then still mixed up... and when we got served with only 2 meals and the French fries were small amount... and we had waited over 20 mins for two meals... Yes I know Friday night is busy but really you need more knowledgeable staff and who can handle the work load as a team...

I waited another 25 mins thinking ok they are trying and just behind.... no they forgot my food and had to ask me again what I even wanted.... after paying 60 bucks for 3 pop...3 meals... small amount of fries and forgetting my meal... and when I finally got it. I asked for it get packed and go... I was over hungery and just wanted go home. When I got home ...and tried to eat.. the batter and fish was not cooked through and was slimy... the girl also kept forgetting to give oh most every table forks and knifes and napkins... also she gave us plastic forks and knifes.... not impressed when I'm going out to a restaurant... plus when sat down table was not clean. Also their was no coleslaw.

I'm sorry to be so negative and I don't usually complain... and I grew up going to Dochertrys... so it was a old favorite. But in all honestly you guys have gone downhill. I hope maybe it was just a hard night and maybe new staff... but that was not at all handled well that night.

User

So so disappointed, as a British-expat I was looking forward to a nice chippy. Unfortunately that's not what I got. You are clearly cooking your chips in old oil plus over cooking them. The portion size was crud. I saw one girl handle cooked battered fish with her hands on to a plate, I seen the girl who took my cash handle food with her hands and touch hair! No sink in the kitchen??

Sausage in batter?! No, I don't know what went wrong but that was not sausage in batter! It was burnt. The only thing I really enjoyed was the gravy! And that probably came out of a packet!!

User

Posting this on behalf of my Mum, as British expats we are very disappointed in the chips she received today.

Extremely thin, burnt dark brown and taste like old oil. Some chips were under cooked, some were over cooked. This is the 3rd time she has purchased take out and thrown it away.
