Dogma Behaviour & Education Centres Description

Owned and operated by one of Calgary's only Certified Pet Dog Trainers (CPDT-KA) and Certified Behaviour Consultant Canines (CBCC-KA), dogma training & pet services is the place to visit for all your dog education, daycare and product needs. At dogma, we know that real dog training is about relationship building. It's about communicating with your four-legged companion, building a relationship based on mutual respect and learning together. It's positive, it's peaceful and, yes, it's productive.

We offer daycare, training, and a variety of education programs. Our education, awareness programs and seminars are the core of our business. Our dog daycare and training facility is right in central Calgary and is based on the same philosophy as our training: in an environment where you are both comfortable, you will unleash your dog's spirit and build a happy life together.

Working with Dogma Behaviour & Education Centres has been a pleasure in 2018. Their communication skills and responsiveness is excellent. I can see why they were voted Top Dog Training Services in Calgary of 2018 by the people in their city.

What a safe and supportive place to take your dog. For someone like myself, with a reactive dog- I feel confident that the staff will take the time to understand his needs and make him feel loved and comfortable. The training options that are offered are incredible and I would most certainly recommend Dogma to anyone looking for a home away from home for their pup. Bravo to the staff and management.

We have two dogs who are lucky enough to spend time at dogma! We have one in kinderPups & one in dogmaU and couldn't be happier with all that they are both learning! In just a few short weeks we are seeing a significant improvement in their manners & handling! Both dogs are happy to arrive for their dogma days and both are equally as exhausted by the end of their days! It is much appreciated to have the guidance & resources in training our two boys! We've also participated in the free puppy socialization classes, VIPups & our older dog did a round of reactive training last year ... we are always pleased with the classes, the trainers, the careful class structures & content is always good. Thank you for all you've taught us!

We can not express enough how amazing this company and their staff are. Our rescue (Megan's Rescue Efforts Society) has been lucky enough to have had Dogma take us under their wings when it comes to helping us with our dogs. We can not thank them enough for the change they have given our rescue by opening up their amazing seminars to our volunteers and the amazing impact their programs and trainers have had on our dogs. I can for sure say that if it was not for them at least 4 of our dogs would not have become the dogs they are today and found their furever homes now. The dedication Dogma has on helping dogs and their families learn how to be the best they can for each other is outstanding. I can not thank them enough.

There are very few people I would trust my dog around! When it comes to the safety of our furry babies I want to work with someone who is as passionate and consistent with their values and beliefs as Dogma. Just the best, most kind hearted people who truly want to not only take the best care of our babies but ensure better treatment of ALL animals.

Our very large puppy Czar has been attending kinderpups ( 37th ave) a couple times a week for the last 3 months. We have found all of the trainers to be very caring and provide our puppy with strong guidance. We have also followed up with vipups and the classes helped us to keep up the training at home. Considering our puppy is almost 75lbs, he's off to a great start with his manners & training.

Our golden retriever has been associated with Dogma since Puppy Kindergarten. On his days going to Day School he starts barking with excitement when we park in front of the school. He "leads" his handler back to the play area, barking with excitement the whole time. He comes back tired and happy at the end of his day there. (Note: Kona is not normally a barker! He is just so very happy to go to Dogma!)

Our almost five-year old, Luna, has been attending Dogma since she was about five months old. We put a lot of time and effort into researching doggy daycares and ended up deciding on Dogma for many reasons - two of the big ones being the amount of training the staff are required to take on an ongoing basis and the positive reinforcement training they do with the dogs in their care. She loves all the staff there and has made many friends. I highly recommend this facility. Thank you, Dogma. Keep up the great work :)

Our George has been part of the Dogma family since she was a wee six month old and only weighed 75lbs. From UrbanK9 to Reactive UrbanK9 to daycare, day school, clinics and private training...the Dogma team has been with us every step of the way.

Georgie is a big girl who is uncertain about a lot of scary things (from rides in cars other than HERS to wading pools and don't even ask her about that awful tunnel ;-)). She has come so far though, gaining confidence along the way and most of the credit for that is because of the love and support everyone at Dogma has shown her right from the beginning. That and for showing us how to help her succeed.

The Dogma team has given us the confidence to go out and explore the city and beyond knowing that George can not only handle busy events and locations but actually enjoy going!

We can't say enough good things about Dogma...George and her humans owe so much to them!

My dog Koda has been attending Dogma day care (on 37th) for not too long but I can say so far I have been nothing but completely satisfied with their staff. Koda is so excited to come see his friends and he has no hesitation when is being dropped off, in fact he is unable to get through their doors fast enough. They all know who he is and greet him by name as soon as he comes in the doors. It's very comforting to know I'm bringing him to a place where you know he's being cared for. Thank you!

I have been going to Dogma on and off for about a year, I have 2 Siberian Huskies and I truly believe that if they had not only helped me train my dogs and educate me I wouldn't have the awesome huskies I have now.

This all started while I was walking my 4 month old around my park and someone had told me about PUPS classes FOR FREE to help me train my pups and all I had to do was show up for an hour session that cost us 30.00. The best 30.00 investment we had made.!!!

Thank you to everyone on the staff for being so patient and helpful and so very Awesome and the company as a whole for being very flexible, affordable and understanding with our personal situations, like school, kids, work, finances, etc.

Thanks again, you all rock!!!

I have been attending the Reactive classes at Dogma with my dog Hank for the past 6 months.

I started with a dog that seemed to be becoming more and more leash reactive by the day.

I was always stressed taking him for walks, whether it be taking insane out of the way routes just to avoid dogs, or solely driving to off leash and trying my hardest to avoid leashed walks all together.

Although the "road of reactivity" has been a bumpy ride, he's made so much progress and I don't know where we would be without the team at Dogma to support and guide me through the difficult times. They are always patient and willing to answer all of my questions and have helped Hank and I form a new bond and start to become a confident dog and owner!

Enzo started at dogma when I found myself stuck for daytime options when I realized I had a puppy who was afraid of being alone & without company. Dogma is one of the only daycares who will take on young puppies & I decided to try it. Enzo loved the kinderPup program, especially the field trips. This program lead to a well socialized & happy puppy. He's on to the dogmaU program now that he's a year old. Some days he doesn't want to come home because he hasn't finished playing. The attendants & trainers always give a daily update, which is great information. While Enzo loves the socializing, I love the structured day & practice skills worked on during the day. And the little extras like the Mother's Day 'paintings'.

Because Enzo does so well with the daycare program, I decided to try the training & specialty clinics. Because he is so active, I've found him to be more difficult to train than my previous dog. I've learned a lot about handling & training & Enzo is learning to be a well mannered dog.

I highly recommend the force free & dog centred approach to training & the daycare programs.

Dogma is the only daycare I'll take Talia to. The staff are awesome and they keep the dogs entertained all day - which is what Talia need needs! We moved to Edmonton just over a year ago so Talia doesn't get to go as often, but she always goes for a play at Dogma when we come down for a visit! We need a Dogma in Edmonton

Dogma is the one of the ONLY places in Calgary I would trust my dogs for daycare or training. It is one of the few companies who have actual educated trainers that are actually certified. I know first hand how much they truly care not just about your dogs safety but their mental well being. I have brought all 3 of my dogs here for numerous classes and loved them all! The reactive dog classes basically saved one of my dogs lives.

User

Dogma is awesome. I met Megan years ago when this was just a dream and then she made it happen! And I wouldn't trust anyone else with my pup. Lucy is a rescue with some anxiety and fear and Dogma has really helped both her and me understand this and help Lucy gain her confidence. The trainers there are so patient and as they are trained behaviourists, I know that Lucy gets the consideration she needs. Lucy is always so happy to go to daycare and is always totally wiped out at the end of the day. I highly recommend Dogma!

Dogma has been, and continues to be a fabulous resource for me personally, and for Rosier Days Dog Rescue Society.

I started my journey with Dogma through their apprenticeship program and am finally doing what I love as a career.

I am also a director for Rosier Days Dog Rescue Society, and Dogma has been 10 stars with assisting dogs in our care that greatly benefit from their programs! Currently, they are assisting us with Maizey, a dog that is fear reactive to other dogs. Maizey attends private dog to dog sessions where she is learning how to appropriately interact with dogs, as well as the reactive evening classes where she is learning to calmly see other dogs on-leash.

Maizey has achieved more than we thought possible and is continuing to improve! Thank-you Dogma for assisting not-for-profits and the dogs that need you! I/We are forever grateful!

User

Dogma has been a life saver for us. They have taught us how to help our fearful and reactive dog build confidence! They have an amazing way of giving you as much knowledge as possible to succeed both in and out of the classroom! Their trainers are extremely helpful and are always willing to go above and beyond to help you and you fur friend!

A year ago I adopted a baby pomeranian named Bear. As a young puppy he was extremely shy and over time his shyness developed into reactivity and aggression. He started growling, barking, and lunging at other dogs and people. I had no idea what to do, my friends and family had never owned a reactive dog. On walks strangers would ask me what was wrong with him or yell at me to take control of my dog. I decided that I needed help and signed up for Dogma's fearful and reactive dog classes. It has been six months since we started attending classes and I cannot believe the change in Bear. The puppy that used to hide under my chair during playtime, now plays with dogs of all sizes. He loves going on walks and rarely reacts to other dogs and people. It was the best decision I could have made for myself and my dog. Thank you to the wonderful team at Dogma!
