What a great place im staying in the place now (12 Aug 17).beds are so comfee, has coffee, full kitchen , AC in the room... come on guys AC room for less than 300$ Try this place if all the banff town is fully sold out ! you will definitely find a room to sped the night garanteed, has all bathroom amineties with plenty of towel, clean balconies with a butt stop on wall. Fire place with lodes of firewood.they are pretty desant hotel give best to their coustomers.I love it and I love it more.Im a hotelier and I can sense how much effort they have put in place

User

This is always our first choice in Banff. A little water slide time for the kids, hot tub for the parents, grab a bottle of wine to site by our own fire.....

User

Pretty good place for people with kids! Pools, watersides, play zone, lots of amenities to keep kids happy during down time and strategically placed near the town bus service (which is free with your room).

User

Great facilities, clean rooms, well equipped room, had everything we wanted and then some. Far exceeded any expectations I had. We stayed in main building and could walk inside to all amenities.

User

First time staying overnight in Banff and we are so glad we stayed here. Customer service people were so nice, the waterslides we so fun, the play place was wonderful. The pool room was a bit cold but still wonderful. Our studio room was beautiful it was so nice to have a fireplace and complementary firewood. We will definitely be staying here again!

User

Been coming here ever since we moved to Calgary 9 years ago!! Its my little home from home!! My kids (and us!) love the waterslides, outdoor hot tub and playzone!!! Love seeing all the upgrades!!! Ok wifi is flaky but your on vacation so switch it off and have fun!! Awesome for families !!! 😊

User

We really enjoyed our stay, we had one of the lofts I believe. It had a queen size bed on the main floor, a really nice size kitchen and dining area, a pull out couch and wood fireplace. Two beds upstairs and a half bathroom and also a balcony. I really enjoyed how much space there was and our teenage daughters enjoy the pool and waterslides. My husband and I enjoyed walking around behind the resort and also enjoy the hot tub’s. The only downside was that my daughter cut her hand on a loose rail on the indoor hot tub. But we let management know and hopefully they will have fixed that for future customers

User

We love coming here. This is our go to place :) our kids are 6 and 8 and this is the only place they know in Banff haha

User

We had a chalet w a loft. 2 queen beds upstairs n one downstairs. 2 seperate room.kitchenette was small but functionable. Good supply of kitchen utensils n dishwasher. We got the breakfast package n got just the supply once for 3 days. 12 eggs a tray of sausagez n 2 litre milk n orange juice butter n 8 pkts of ceraal.not bad .

Beds were comfortable.we had a fireplace n balcony.

We were given free bus pass. Staff were helpful .

We had a very nice stay.

Thank u

User

Staff were great, and the water slide, hot tub, and play ground were nice to have so close by. However the beds and sofa weren't that comfortable, and everything was very dated. Including the tinfoil like towels.

User

Nice, clean units with kitchenettes. A bit dated but well maintained with great amenities in a quiet, scenic location on Tunnel Mountain. Pet friendly and caters to families. Large, comfortable units allow a home away from home. Would definitely stay here again.

User

Needs some seriousness updates for the price. We always stay because the kids love the water slides and the outside hot tub is nice. Change rooms in pool area are not maintained through the day and are nasty. Pull out couch bed was tragic, You could see the coils through the sheets lol. Time for some updates Douglas Fir! Staff is always friendly!!

User

Fabulous location and friendly staff. My son LOVED the water park. I think they are a bit over priced for how dated the rooms are. But it was very comfy and family friendly. $$$ is the only thing that kept this from getting 5 stars!

User

The facilities are fantastic for families but the staff lack hospitality. My favorite example was being denied breakfast. If you want breakfast you need to specifically ask for the breakfast package when booking and ensure that you do so 2 days prior. We extended our stay, payed the rate that includes breakfast but we did not specifically ask for the breakfast package when booking + we missed the 2 day window = no breakfast for us. I spoke to the Manager Perry, seems he is the driving force of the cultural ban on hospitality.

We have been staying here since we moved to Calgary 14 years ago. I think it’s time to find a nicer hotel in Banff. The last few times haven’t been the greatest. Last time we found toenail clippings in the bathroom. Called down and they said they would send someone. They did come while we were at the pool but didn’t clean the toenail clippings. I was disgusted. Finally they came back and picked them up. I washed the floor myself with soap and a towel. This time we came once again for the Santa parade. Checked in right before the parade. Came back and went right to the pool. We came back to the room freezing and the first person went to shower. No shower curtain. I called the front desk and let them know there were only a few towels. Not toiletries and no shower curtain. They brought me one hand towel with shampoo and conditioner inside. Ok where’s my shower curtain? There’s no way to get you one tonight. So we have to shower. We are freezing. Water everywhere. Used the few towels we had to clean it up. They promised me a shower curtain first thing in the morning. Nothing. Went to check out and asked why no one got back to me. All I got was a i’m not sure. Not a sorry. Nothing. I know it’s just a shower curtain but i’m paying $250 a night for a run down condo and I don’t have a shower curtain? They could have cared less. If I was staying at the super 8 for $80 a night then different story. Unreal. I’ll be looking at a new hotel for my kids and myself to stay in.

User

This was our umpteenth stay at the Douglas Fir, but I think it will be our last. While I don’t mind the rustic decor - outdated, older furniture - our chalet was downright dirty. When we first arrived, I wiped down the counters, and the cloth came away almost black. There were stains on the bathroom door and walls that I didn’t want to look twice at. I would have left as soon as we checked in but our kids were excited for the trip. The 1970’s feel is part of the charm - but the filth isn’t. For $270 a night I feel like I shouldn’t be worried about what I touched.

User

Terrible experience as our suite had no heat and the furnace area was locked so we had no idea the pilot light was out. Called the front desk and someone fixed it but only got heat a few hours before we left. No manager on site until after check out and no response from Perry, the manager, after three weeks of phone calls and voice mails. With two small kids and dogs, it was a very cold night. Will never stay there again or recommend it to my clients.

User

I’ve been staying at Douglas Fir now for about 30 Years from a child to an adult. I came back to carry on the tradition with my kids but unfortunately the tradition will not continue. The issues: 1) deadbolt didn’t work 2) no smoke detector in the loft 3) furnace grate in bedroom was broken so no heat 4) carpet worn down to nothing 5) cabinets chipped and worn out 6) tv was hanging at an angle due to broken bolts 7) leaking balcony sliding glass doors 8 ) broken tiles around fire place 9) broken tiles and major damage to pool deck and slides 10) indoor play park ballast lights burnt out and playground damaged in many areas

I cannot believe I payed 600.00 dollars plus for a weekend getaway for this out dated run down resort. DF time to completely shut down and start to restore the place otherwise you’ll be gone... I would recommend staying else where no matter the family resort appeal

User

Wow. Unbelievable that this resort would not allow our group of 10 to stay because we are celebrating a bachelorette party. We were told this is a family hotel with a quiet time of 10pm. NO PROBLEM. We are all responsible adults coming to Banff to enjoy time together and the beautiful bride. It's shocking the staff would not even entertain a group of this nature because what, they expect us to be disrespectful? Wouldn't a better approach to be to notify us of this rule and inquire as to our ability to adhere to this? We wanted a large chalet where we could all stay together, looks like we will be taking our business elsewhere. A note to management, don't judge and restrict people without even opening a dialogue regarding your rules and regulations. I find it very disrespectful to decline an inquiry straight out the gates based on assumptions.
