About Dr. Stephanie Yaremko, Nd

Born and raised in Calgary, Dr. Stephanie Andrews grew up with a great appreciation of the outdoors, healthy living, and service to the volunteer community in Calgary. She has contributed to the life experiences of young children in Canada, Nicaragua, the Middle East and Asia; the visually impaired; and foreign students studying abroad.

She received the Chancellor Club Scholarship to attend the University of Calgary to study biochemistry and minored in German. After graduating from the U of C she went on to study Naturopathic Medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto. While at CCNM, Dr. Andrews was involved in many service activities including the Botanical Society and therapeutic clowning with the Clown Care Unit. She also served as VP External for the Naturopathic Students’ Association.

Dr. Andrews has travelled and worked in a number of different countries and recognizes the influence that culture and society have on personal health behaviors, beliefs and practices. As the primary care naturopathic physician with Natural Doctors International in Nicaragua, Dr. Andrews often served as the only health care provider for patients. She worked with all patient populations and health conditions including pediatrics, infectious disease, acute illnesses, and chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes and arthritis. She also led the DIOSA program, a women’s health program aimed at empowering and educating women about their health, and increasing cervical cancer screening.

Dr. Andrews recognizes that health is not merely an absence of disease, but rather a dynamic process involving mind, body, spirit and community and works to educate her patients and the public about the tremendous power they have for their health and lives. She firmly believes that a person’s lifestyle is the greatest modifiable effecter of health. She cherishes the connections made with people while attending their health journeys and looks forward to creating more.

In addition to English, Dr. Andrews is conversant in Spanish, Turkish, French and German and is happy to offer assistance to individuals in these languages.
