On Sunday, January 27, Capital and Metro Line LRT service will be suspended from 5 a.m. until the end of service to accommodate City of Edmonton testing of the Thales signalling system. Customers will still see trains running on the tracks, but will not be permitted to board.
This closure is one of several planned as part of the City’s evaluation of the Thales signalling system. The City expects it will take a number of months to complete the evaluation, which includes a revi...ew of documentation and field testing to determine whether Thales has met its contractual obligations. The City anticipates there will be one and a half days of system-wide LRT closures each month to accommodate testing, and will work to minimize the effect on ETS customers, motorists and pedestrians.
Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) will have replacement buses every 15 minutes on the Metro Line between NAIT and Churchill, including eastbound bus stops by Bay and Central stations. Capital Line replacement buses will run every seven to eight minutes. Please use bus stops with red “LRT Replacement” signs.
Customers are encouraged to plan ahead by checking service changes on takeETS.com/news.
Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians may also experience increased wait times at LRT crossings during testing, so please give yourself extra travel time and consider alternate routes when possible.

The City of Edmonton is in the midsts neighbourhood blading. Duggan and Rideau Park are scheduled to have blading start on Tuesday, Dec 18th.
