We need to stop feeding the plastic dragon and put strategies in place to reduce plastic in our lives and the environment.
City of Edmonton needs to bring in regulation to reduce plastic use and waste. YourAlberta (Government of Alberta) needs to bring in regulations to reduce plastic use and waste. Canada needs to bring in regulations to reduce plastic use and waste!

I got into business to change the world. There are many things happening in the world that are NOT good and one of them is Human Trafficking.
For the month of December, I will be wearing a dress as a statement, for awareness, and as a fundraising vehicle for a group called Dressember.
Check out my blog post for more information and to find out how you can support my fundraising efforts.

If anyone has some dresses they could lend me for the month I would appreciate it. :)

I like efficiency. Reducing my consumption of energy, water, resources, etc makes me feel better about my passage on this planet. When I get to use resources really efficiently I feel so much better.
The same is true of my diet. When there are good options to replace meat I know that that choice has a lighter footprint.

Today is Grey Cup Sunday. It is being hosted here in Edmonton and there will be much frivolity, cheering, drinking, merriment, and entertainment.
But, somewhere in the city, there will be violence. The violence that may happen because someone drank too much, their team lost, their team won, that something happened that they felt there was a need to hit something - whatever the reason someone else was hurt. The usual recipient of such violence is commonly young girls or women....
Today is also, "International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women". Let's do our part to eliminate this violence from our society and the world. Let's do our part to eliminate ALL violence from the planet.
"The 2018 theme is Orange the World: #HearMeToo and like previous editions, the date marks the launch of 16 days of activism that will conclude on 10 December 2018, International Human Rights Day."
Have a great Grey Cup day.
May it be a peaceful day for everyone - as with every day.

IMPOSSIBLE BURGERS!
We scored some of these from one of our suppliers.
They are 1/4 pound patties.
... They will only be around for a short time since we only have 400 of them.
They are 6.99$ each (very steep).
Supposedly, they are going to enter the retail market in early 2019. This 'should' bring down the price somewhat. Our current price is out of necessity to cover the costs to retail it. Things will change in the New Year.
Just in time for the weekend.
They are packed two per pack and there will be a maximum 2 packs per person (so that more people can try them) - share the love!

Farmer's Markets are great places to discover local gems. Our city is blessed with a good selection of markets throughout the year.
One of our customers has asked me to mention to our Facebook crowd about the Ottewell Artisan Farmers Market happens every Thursday evening from 4-7 pm.
And you are in luck - today is Thursday!
... Check them out.

Here is another video from the City of Edmonton's Change for Climate Edmonton showing how a person and organisation is doing something a little differently to lessen the impact on the environment and make Edmonton a vibrant city.
I am very proud to know the tuba and trombone players. I was always impressed by the number of people that worked at the Winspear that bicycle to work. These people are heroes in my book.
Good going, Annemarie Petrov!

People, and especially parents, have been sold a lie - a marketing lie.
Wet wipe cloths are marketed as flushable. This is true. They can move through the toilet out through the system.
When we put things down the toilet we assume that they are biodegradable - Pee, Poop, and Paper. The #3Ps. So when companies market their product as flushable they playing on people's assumption that their product is biodegradable. They are NOT.
... They contain plastic fabrics which lead to clogging of our sewer lines and equipment which in turn costs us, as taxpayers. When/if these cloths get into the environment they are litter and could harm animal and marine lives.
Look for products that are 100% biodegradable. Better yet - make your own batch of wet wipes - this will save you money and all the plastic boxes/packaging that this industry creates.
The toilet is not a waste bin.

BEYOND SAUSAGES!
Yup! We scored 4 cases of each of these sausages - Hot, Original Brat, and Sweet Italian.
These sausages weigh in at almost 4 oz (a quarter of a pound).
... I must say - they are delicious.
Limited quantities (we only got 200 of each flavour) until we get restock (hopefully next week) so we got to share the love around.
3.99$ each sausage link.
Sales only in person.

Some time ago, I shared a video on how cranberries grow.
Here is the follow up to that video - how cranberries are harvested.
In September 1983 I was cycling through southern Washington on my way to Mexico and I came across these odd looking earthworks. There was a berm of earth around a section of ground. It was probably 40 feet square and there was a metal pipe that came up in the middle of the square.
... That evening I asked someone what they were and was told they were cranberry bog/field. I had only seen highbush cranberries before so this was new to me. The person explained how they were picked - the field was flooded and the rising water would then 'pluck' the cranberry from the plant (now submerged). The floating cranberries were then skimmed from the water surface and processed.
We have fresh, frozen, and canned (jellied and whole) cranberries. All organic of course!

We have been told several times that we carry some unusual products in bulk. One of the more specialty items we carry is Irish Moss.
We carry this whole (pictured) and in flakes.
