Our donkeys love to climb hills, and apparently they love the sun even in a heat wave! Please remember your own hat, water, and sunscreen today!
The animals here are part of Happy Hooves Farm Animal Sanctuary, which means many of them have been released from less than desirable conditions. They are now part of a loving home and attended to with special care. Meet some of these animals at the farm any day this summer!
Today is very hot and very humid. If you are outside at all today, please remember to drink lots of water and wear plenty of sunscreen.
Please don't forget that days like these are extremely hot for animals as well. Water and shade are vital to prevent heat stroke. Asphalt can burn paw pads too.
So please stay safe, cool, and enjoy the sun responsibly!
Happy Canada Day! We are open today regular hours, just like every day until September long weekend. If you haven't booked your tour this year, let us know!
Blossom is having a spa day. Tasty hay and a cool shower... she likes to look her best for all the visitors.
Daffodil sometimes prefers the greens outside her corral, and sometimes we like the free mowing! Goats were often used for milk and cheese, animal accompaniment, and grass maintenance.
Another beautiful sunset view from Echo Dale Farm tonight. As the sun goes down the animals settle into their inside stalls for the night.
Great to see the parking lot full on the first open day of the swim lake! So come out this weekend, have a swim, and then come take a free tour of the Echo Dale Farm and Ajax Coal Mine!
The swim Lake opens the first Friday in June and is closed for the season after Labour Day Monday. Lifeguards are on duty 11 am to 7 pm during the swim lake season.
*Hours of operation may vary as the swim lake closes if outdoor temperature drops below 15ºC. If the swim lake is closed, this means that the concession building will also close.
We are open for the long weekend. Come visit the farm, the park and the animals.
Hopes everyone is staying warm in this freezing weather. Looking forward to seeing everyone later this year.
The Echo Dale Farm annual Corn Roast is on August 27, 2017. Details to follow......
So this is Blossom, our resident Echo Dale Farm Cow. Someone decided to post a criticism on FB recently regarding her tail. So just to clarify, Blossom was attacked by Coyotes when she was a day old and she was rescued by the Happy Hooves Farm Animal Rescue. She recovered well but the Coyotes chewed off her tail. Blossom is very people friendly to allow the children and adults to interact with her and enjoy the experience when they visit the farm. Come visit the farm, see Blossom and the other animals, There are donkeys, sheep, goats, ducks, chickens, pony's, horses and rabbits. Come experience their relevance to the pioneer lifestyle.
Come visit the farm, get a tour of the pioneer lifestyle site, ask a staff member for a tour of the house and visit the many animals. Remember, the staff are there to assist, look for them in bright purple shirts.
