Philosophy statement

We believe that children benefit from qualified, caring staff and that is why everyone at our center is a qualified early childhood educator. We believe that all children deserve to have a safe, secure and stimulating environment where they can learn through play. We do this by providing activities in all domains (social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional) that are developmentally appropriate for each child.
In our center everyone is an individual with their own feelings and needs. We believe that family is a huge part of children’s lives and we aspire to have open communication with families so that everyone knows what is going on for the child. At our center we have an open door policy and encourage families to participate regularly.
We believe that it is important to take the child’s lead. In programming we plan around the children’s needs, strengths and interests. Program planning is acetated by continual observation of children, gauging there ever changing interests so that our programs can be altered as often as needed. Consistency is very important in children’s lives and we believe it should be maintained; however with in this there is room for flexibility. Part of our centers programming is to be outdoors as much as possible and to bring the outdoors (natural materials) inside.
Also, we encourage children to share their feeling and show empathy. We believe that “behind every behavior there is a feeling” and that there is no such thing as “a bad child” just an undesirable behavior. One of our beliefs around guiding and caring is to encourage children to problem solve through there difficulties and as staff we do this by teaching the children to care for others. We do not expect the children to do this on their own but for us as qualified caregivers to support the children through these steps.
In our center we strive to have a home way from home. Having small group sizes and comforting environment reflects this. Our staff strive to help each child to become independent yet are always there for support and guidance. We believe that children learn by example; our staff model what we want children to learn for example respect, honesty and manners.
