Sometimes you just know what you need to do. Call it God speaking in your heart if you will.
A lovely family had one of our 2017 puppies, and he was cherished and adored. However, recently a horrible accident occurred and he was killed. Everyone has been devastated.
As the wound on this family's heart was starting to form a familiar place in their lives, more healing was still needing to come. And that's when I looked at Gossip, and knew.
... This week I bathed this beautiful girl in preparation for their arrival. They hadn't told their 11 yr old son yet what was happening, just that they needed to do this 8 hour trip. From the moment we put the brand new pink harness on this little princess, his hand was on the lead and in her fur. The entire time we did paperwork and loaded her in the vehicle, his hand never left her - always touching her, always buried in her coat. Every photo they've sent it's been the same. And here again - this little man is now down with a cold today - he's not parted from her, nor she from him.
I'm so glad I heeded the whisper in my heart from God, as this little girl-zoi is bringing more healing and peace and joy than I could ever have imagined.
We co-own Gossip, but I think her heart is where it's meant to be. God is good, and in our pain he is there. If we pay attention, he even allows us to join him in his work.

With a heart feeling like stone, we recognize the passing of a great man. Big personality, big laugh, big body, big voice, big heart for the Borzoi breed. These big shoes - and those incredible socks - will never be filled.
The show has come to a close, the building is now quiet, the lights are turned down. Dr. Dick has left the building.

This little princess is sired by Ch. Elance Master And Commander (Ben X Maiden). She's shown here taking Best of Breed from the Junior Puppy Bitch class, over 4 class bitches and 3 specials. Well done, ladies! A bright future.

Today the Borzoi world said good-bye to a marvelous dog, one admired across the globe: "Monne" - BIS MBISS GB CH DE CH SE CH NO CH DK CH FI CH SE V-09 NO V-09,11,12, Crufts BOB Winner 2011, Donaueschingen BOB Winner 2012, 2014 Borzowski´s Phenomenon.
For 11 years this dog filled our eyes. Our condolences go to his breeder, Annica Nilsson, and his owner, Lena Hamel. A chapter has come to a close far too soon.
We are grateful to have Monne children and grandchildren in our lives. Thank you, Lena, for sharing your boy.

When Kay asked to breed her wonderful Finessa to Zion, like anyone in their right mind, I asked for a stud fee puppy in return. With only two babies, I told Kay I'd take whatever puppy she didn't want. She decided to keep the girl, so the boy became mine, and that boy became Ben - GAmGCanCh. Konza-Plum Creek Bugatti at Elance.
We agreed that it made sense to leave him with Kay to finish his American Championship before coming home to me, which he did in style - he finished b...y 12 months old with numerous Group placements. Young Champion Ben came to Canada as a juvenile, and while it was hard for Kay to let him go, I promised her that he would come back for her to show once he grew up.
Ben finished his Canadian Grand Championship quickly, becoming the #1 Borzoi in Canada his first year, even though we only do about 5-6 show weekends. He placed high in the rankings the second year as well, with only 4 show weekends. Now more grown up, he headed back to Mamma Kay to start his US tour.
Ben's first year with Kay was wonderful, but it was a tough year for a competitive male out with his breeder on a shoe string budget - the lovely Lucy was on the professional campaign trail. Ben got to punch her dance card a number of times - he had the honour of going Best of Opposite to Lady Lucy on numerous occasions, and came in as the 2017 #2 Borzoi behind Lucy.
With the year we had agreed on coming to a close, I asked Kay if she would like him to stay one more year. Ben was in his prime, and I wanted Kay to do as much as she wanted to with this lovely dog she had bred before sending him back home.
Kay chose to go one more year. 2018 was another year of sleepless nights driving for hour beyond hour, staying in humble digs. The advertising budget consisted on one single ad prior to Westminster. Just a girl and the dog she bred, showing this boy she is so proud of.
Ben became the 2018 #1 US Borzoi, earning a Best in Show, Reserve Best in Show, Multiple Best in Specialties, many group wins and placements. All shown by his breeder/co-owner.
Ben will come home in the spring of 2019. We are so proud of Ben and Kay, and I'm thrilled that Kay could have the joy of showing a dog she bred to such wonderful wins. Well done, Kay!

A week ago this little man and one of his sisters said good-bye to Florida. They came home to their Elance family, and are frolicking in the snow here. "Tuck" (pictured here at 11 weeks old) and his sister "Sparrow" are from the Pico X Fanta litter, and are settling in well. We hope for more photos soon.
The "Fab Fifteen" litter is very promising. Chris and Patti's pick boy is tremendous, and my choices were so very difficult due to the lovely quality overall. The visit to Sylvan was far too short, but very sweet. It was wonderful to be there (even if the spiders are the stuff of my nightmares) and we look forward to doing it again sometime.

Zoom and Flute will be six months old in a couple of days, but today was the only day to catch photos and video for awhile. Neither were super cooperative. "Why should I stand still when there's all these leaves to run through?" But, they're cute and sweet natured, and it's time. https://borzoi.breedarchive.com/…/glaci er-zoom-zoom-at-elan…

Puppy Zoom (Glacier's Zoom Zoom at Elance) tagged along to the vet today while his dad got a chiro adjustment (yes, making a hole in the dog shelter, climbing through and jumping down 8 feet is likely to put your neck out, doofus.) Zoom enjoyed meeting the staff and getting cookies, and got to step on the scale - he'll be six months old in a week, and he's a solid 65 pounds. We're hoping for good enough weather for photos this coming weekend.
