Elkwater Girl Guide Camp is located in Elkwater, AB. It is run by the Cypress Hills Area Girl Guides and is available for rental to Guiding and the public. Our facilities include a well-equipped lodge that sleeps 30 and a tenting site with many facilities
Elkwater Girl Guide Camp Description
The Camp is situated on beautiful leased property in the townsite of Elkwater, located on the Alberta side of Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park. We have many amenities available.
Prairie Rose Lodge is a well-equipped lodge that sleeps 30. Whispering Winds Tentsite, on the lower level, has a kitchen /hall and outbuildings including a wash house with showers.
The site has a large pond (no swimming or boating), aspen and evergreen forests, a wetland, a ravine and many birds and animals. We also have a firebreak trail through the forest.
The Prairie Rose Lodge is a fully equipped building located in the beautiful Elkwater townsite.
• Five bedrooms, each with 6 beds (3 bunks) and adjoining washroom
• One bedroom, each with 6 beds (3 bunks)
• 2 separate washrooms with showers, one fully accessible
• Large common room with couches, tables and chairs
• Washing machine and dryer
• Wood burning fireplace (wood is provided)
• Nurse’s room
• Cozy sitting room
• Outdoor patio with picnic tables
• Extensive kitchen (water is potable)
• Large grassy area behind the building
• Tents are allowed to be set up on the far (west) side of the berm.
Just down the hill from the Prairie Rose Lodge is our main tentsite. No RVs or trailers allowed. There is plenty of space to explore!
• Main building with kitchen and common room (water is potable)
• Serving and prep dishes (limited personal dishes and cutlery provided)
• Wash house with toilets, sinks, showers, and electric clothes dryer
• Large campfire pit with benches
• Outdoor cook house with wood burning stove (wood is provided)
• Tool shed with various outdoor cooking implements & other tools
• Several smaller cooking pits
• Picnic tables
• Tents are available for Guiding use; they are stored in the tent shed.
