These tips are to assist children who may be victims of bullying, but we can all learn a thing or two! Kindness lasts a lifetime. #pinkshirtday #antibullying #kindess #bekind

We are thrilled to announce the winner of the 2018 MELANIE GRACE SCHOLARSHIP award. Congratulations to Jamie Bannerman-Flaterud, who is enrolled in the Veterinary Assistance Program at Bow Valley College. The journey was not an easy one after a diagnosis of epilepsy while in high school, but Jamie is strong and determined and we're certain she'll be an asset in her chosen field of endeavor. Jamie has also been involved at EAC since she was diagnosed and is equally determined to help raise epilepsy awareness. We're certain the Melanie would be as pleased as we are! Wishing you much success pursuing your dreams Jamie!
Applications for the 2019 award will be available this summer. For more information on the Melanie Grace Scholarship, visit: www.epilepsycalgary.com

We just love this stuffed penguin that Kyle brought us this past week! Kyle volunteers in our office (and for most other activities as well), and thought this little penguin would look great in our reception area. Many thanks Kyle - not just for the penguin, but for all you do to help and to make a difference!

Coping and adapting to a diagnosis of epilepsy can be daunting and lonely, because epilepsy is all too often feared and misunderstood. In addition to providing a supportive community for those affected, community education is key to eliminating the stigma that so often surrounds epilepsy. Here is a Calgary Journal account of the struggles two young women experienced in their journey living with epilepsy. Our sincere thanks to Chloe Chapedelaine, writing for the Calgary Jou...rnal, and Jamie Bannerman, for sharing their stories.
You don't have to walk the road alone. If you have been diagnosed with epilepsy last week, or last year, don't hesitate to call us: (403) 230-2764.
