About Equine Equestrian Centre-Eec

Equine Equestrian Centre This course provides the basis for understanding the equine industry, both from a practical and a theoretical perspective. Students will participate in daily routine care and management procedures, and learn basic techniques such as horse handling, grooming, bandaging, blanketing, and tack. Horse-environment interactions will focus on equine behavior. The relationship of horses with humans will be explored from ancient through to modern times, including breeding for specific equestrian sports, prominent horsemen /women, and the variety of career options.

Riding Lessons /Training

Introduce and Practice the walk
Introduce and practice the posting walk
Introduce and Practice the trot
Introduce and practice the posting trot
Introduce and practice the canter
Introduce and practice a circle
Introduce and practice a turn
Introduce and practice changing the rein
Introduce and practice exercises to practice eye control
Introduce and practice exercises at the walk to teach steering and control
Introduce and practice identifying the correct canter lead and how to correct the lead
Introduce and practice changing the leading file
Introduce and practice 3 point position at walk and trot
Introduce and practice 2 point position at walk and trot

• Lunging – lunge line, lunge whip, side reins, boots, gloves etc.
• Teaching tools (games or props) for your mounted lesson and unmounted lessons
• A horse suitable for lunging a beginner rider

Basic Equine care

-Cleaning the stall
-Outside living
-Barn safety
-Indoor boarding
-What to feed /water your horse, and how much
-Winter /summer and fall, what to expect
-Fitting of helmets and safe riding
-Grooming procedure
-Tack cleaning
-Proper leading and turning of the horse
-Bridling – proper fitting and technique
-Saddling – proper technique and fitting, including girth and breastplate
-Foot care
-Tying a horse properly in the stall
-Blanketing and unblanketing a horse
-First aid kit for both horse and human
- Bandages (polo /exercise and stable) and boots, must be clean and in good repair
- Grooming kit that is clean
