Family Advocacy Support Centre

The Family Advocacy Support Centre (FASC) provides support, education, and advocacy for parents & caregivers impacted by the child welfare system. Individuals navigating the child welfare legal system often feel alone, hopeless, and powerless. The stress, trauma, and grief that comes with navigating the complicated system is often overlooked. Additionally, public perceptions of who gets involved with Children's Services (CS) contributes to feelings of shame and stigma. The Family Advocacy Support Centre (FASC) aims to be an organization that empowers, uplifts, and highlights the voices and experiences of parents who have been impacted by the child welfare system. We believe that if parents have an increased role in decision making, program development, policy and systems change, it will lead to the dismantling and transformation of an oppressive and racist system, and in turn strengthen and preserve families and communities. We believe that improving outcomes for families requires a collective community effort focused on early prevention and nonpunitive measures.
