FUA is a student group focused on the critical radical deconstruction of social /political inequality in our communities.

FUA is a student group focused on the critical radical deconstruction of social /political inequality in our communities. We are actively invested in both community building and political activism through which we can work toward the creation of safe and anti-oppressive spaces. Our feminisms implicitly resist all forms of systemic marginalization and as such, we aim to center experiential knowledges and voices. FUA acknowledges that we, as part of the University of Alberta, are located on Treaty 6 territory, and we thank the diverse Indigenous peoples whose footsteps have marked this territory for centuries such as: Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux.

The goals of Feminists at the University of Alberta are as follows:
• Provide an inclusive social network for all feminists (students and staff) at the University of Alberta
• Provide resources and support for feminist activities and research
• Create a community and organize events for critical and respectful debate and activism around current issues
• Employ non-hierarchal collective decision-making, using consensus-based decision-making principles
• Maintain an intersectional feminist stance that is collectively shared and promotes the well-being of all students

The FUA maintains the Winnie Tomm Reading Room in 1-15 Assiniboia Hall. We hold office hours (by appointment) for students and staff to use our extensive library of books and academic journals, as well as act as a meeting place for students to come ask for help, hang out, and enjoy some tea.
