What a great post. We often label animals as Dominant/Submissive/Stubborn etc. By labelling these animals, our focus on their behaviour changes and people often focus more on the word itself rather then the potential of the animal. I especially like the saying "You have an animal who behaves as instinct and learning history tells him to." If you use aggressive methods of training or incomplete training it'll potentially account for behavioural issues with that animal. Which t...hen can lead to fear/anxiety/aggression as the animal feels uncomfortable in the situation or has been rewarded by displaying such behaviours. Consistency, kindness and reward is key in training. Remember "reward" isn't always a cookie, it could be a release of pressure, petting, sound, a toy, etc. whatever works for the animal :) When in doubt, seek the help of a professional trainer that specializes in correcting the behaviour that your animal is displaying.

Coconut Oil is great for your pets! Coconut oil is high in Saturated Fat in the form of medium chain triglycerides (medium chain fatty acids) which are quickly metabolized by the body from the Liver to the Digestive Tract. It also has a high Lauric Acid content which has been shown to kill bacteria, fungi and viruses and help prevent other infections. With a high calorie content of about 117 calories per tbsp and 14g of total fat it's great for uses cosmetically and internally. It has been used as a natural lotion by humans and also a hair conditioner on cats, dogs and horses (it can even help with de-tangling of a horses mane and tail) and I've recently heard of it also being used as a conditioner for hooves. There's not much that this supplement can't help with.... Note: Horses can have 1/4cup to 1cup a day depending on weight.

Have you walked your pet today? It's so beautiful outside today, even a few bumble bees are out :)

Green tea is great for your pets.
It is often recommended to be included in your pets diet by many traditionalists and herbalists. Provide green tea as well as fresh water daily.
If your pet is experiencing diarrhea, has dehydration or is being fasted, discontinue the use of Green Tea until your pet is back to normal.

It's great to hear that Alberta Farmers do what they do, because it's not only a job but it's their passion. I guess that's the one thing all animal lovers have in common, the peace that comes from spending time with animals :)

Kind of adds to common thought. "You are what you eat". If you eat healthy, non-processed foods it's likely that you'll be healthier. Same goes for your pet :)

Some people put flowers in vases... We have tennis balls! Haha

Yikes! How scary. Raw hides are so dangerous. There are many alternatives that are safer for your pets i.e. Bully sticks, duck feet, chicken feet, trachea, back strap etc. that are available at your local pet health store. Always supervise your pet when giving them dog chews.

So true!

The grim truth behind "meat meal". It's very sad indeed.

Hahaha too funny, he looks like Figaro. This definitely sounds like something Figaro would do, as soon as I open the refrigerator door for meal time he sings at my feet for his raw food.
