PUPPY OF THE DAY! This is Fernie! She is a 14 week old Mastiff so she is going to grow much bigger than this! Fernie was in to see us for her vaccines which will protect her from the risk of catching serious illnesses. 💕

HAVE YOU FOUND A BAT? Here is some very helpful information if you're wondering what to do with a bat you've found.
Q: I have a bat in my house that I have been instructed to catch by Alberta Health Services (AHS) or by the public health veterinarian; how do I do that?
... A:1. Find a small container like a box or a large can, and a piece of cardboard large enough to cover the opening in the container. Punch small air holes in the cardboard. 2. Put on leather work gloves. When the bat lands, approach it slowly and place the container over it. Slide the cardboard under the container to trap the bat inside. 3. If you are certain there has been no contact between the bat and any people or pets, carefully hold the cardboard over the container and take the bat outdoors and release it away from people and pets. 4. If you are unsure about contact between the bat and people or pets, save the bat for testing. Tape the cardboard to the container, securing the bat inside.

Congrats to our long time RVT April, on passing her Veterinary Technician Anesthesia and Analgesia Board Exams!!
April began her career as an Animal Health Technologist in 2007 and it was during her last year of school that she decided she wanted to pursue a specialty in anesthesia. Two years after receiving her RVT diploma April began the process which would take her 9 years to complete.
April first had to gain approval from the academy to enroll in the program. Once approve...d she was required to submit 60 case logs, demonstrating her specialty skills and managing cases with an ASA rating of 1-5. She was also required to write 4 in depth case reports outlining the care and treatments provided from start to finish to display her skills in managing critical cases. A minimum of 40 hours of CE per year accredited in anesthesia was required and 2 letters of recommendation. A boarded vet signed off on her skills stating she’d mastered the skills set out in each case log and she was to submit a letter of purpose stating why she chose the specialty. Once these items were complete and submitted to the AVTAA she waited for 4 months to find out if she had been accepted. In the end April wrote an 8-hour anesthesia exam (which she’s thankful she never has to write again!). What’s important to note is that April did this on her own. Typically, when others go through this process they have a mentor in an anesthesiologist or another boarded technician in anesthesia that they work under that teaches them and guides them. Yes, April had the support from the amazing doctors at FCPH and April is thankful for this, but she is self taught. Countless hours of her nose in the books and learning on her own are what made this achievement happen for her.
Well, the marks came in this past weekend and April found out that everything she worked so hard for has finally paid off!!! April passed her boards and has been welcomed into the Academy of Veterinary Technicians in Anesthesia and Analgesia. We want to congratulate April for all her perseverance, strength and hard work!

While the circumstances that brought us here were tragic, the experience was more comforting than I thought possible. I have never met such kind and compassionate people. From the moment we walked in until the moment we had to say goodbye, the staff showed nothing but kindness, compassion, and genuine love and support. Thank you for giving us the peace we so desperately needed in that moment.

We have been going to Fish Creek for quite a number of years and while we have had some negative experiences, I am very impressed with the candor and honesty that the owners of this clinic have towards discussing your concerns. Their willingness to listen to constructive criticism and then act upon the issues that were discussed impressed upon me that the care of your animal is their utmost concern. We have had a number of life threatening emergencies over the last few years and the skill, compassion and integrity that each and ever member of this team displays on a regular basis is simply outstanding. Thank you for all you do.

We brought our dog into the clinic this evening and they took him right away and he was looked at promptly, He tore his dew claw and it had to come off they were so fast Thank you for looking after my fur baby,

Unfortunately a couple weeks ago I had to visit this place. Didn't think it would be terrible news. But that night my son and I had to put his dog down. The staff was absolutely wonderful with us, and took care of everything. I highly recommend this pet hospital, though coming to post this and like the page takes me back to that traumatizing experience. I wouldn't be back to post this and trigger my anxiety if they weren't the absolute best.

Tonight was one of the roughest nights for our family. You all show such great love! Our family was hurting and your compassion helped us so so much! Thank you Nurse Jen for sharing your supper with my Kytana- chicken, rice and ice cream was perfect for her final meal! Thank you for the love and patience with all of us! You have an amazing team of Doctors and Nurses

Today was the second time my guy has visited Fish Creek Vet. He is a very reactive dog and his previous vet needed a mussle and a few people to hold him (kinda comical because he's under 4lbs... But l get their safety is priority) Last visit to FCV and todays required my pup to get a needle. (Vaccination today and a cell sample last time) Not once did my dog snarl, or nip at the vet which speaks volumes coming from my cranky critic. The staff here are amazing and they make the unpleasant vet visits much less stressful. Thanks for the amazing care and comfort you give my little guy♡

The Fish Creek 24 hour Pet Hospital staff are all amazing. My dog had a stomach bug and I had to make two late night trips this weekend. The staff treated me and my dog so well. They were very patient with me and made sure to answer all my questions. They were all so kind to my dog. They even went above and beyond by cleaning off my jacket for me when my dog threw up on it. Thanks again, Fish Creek Hospital!

Thank you to all the staff and doctors! The treatment for our fur kitty Ashley as well as us was nothing short of amazing! The staff was empathetic and completely up front with us. And completely affordable for such phenomenal service and professionalism.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped Layla last night when we came in. Thank you to all the ladies who let me rant to them at the front when I was stressed and the amazing vets that took care of her. She's still not 100% her self but doing so much better �. I would highly recommend this vet to anyone who is looking for a vet or has an emergency.

Our dog gizmo was super sick, we took her in, the vets were amazing! So kind, friendly. They made sure to take the time to explain everything to me, which I appreciated. :) Even when I went on at 2am, the vet was still really nice to me, didn't charge us for the visit, and told us to come back if nothing got better. Gizmo is back to her self, thanks to you guys! So thank you so much!! �

On July 20,2018 I received a phone call saying my dog had been involved in a dog attack.. I ran into the clinic hysterically crying and trying to see my pup. The staff were so kind and placed my family and I in a room, they later brought my little guy in so I can see him. They took care of him, explained everything to us and kept us very informed for the evening. They called with updates as they promised, and whenever I called they did everything they could to answer my questions. The staff at the clinic/hospital were amazing. They allowed me to cry, and hold my pup whenever I walked in.



This is the best clinic or hospital I could've gone to, they made the night bearable, and as easy as they could.



Thank you Fish Creek Animal Hospital, you gave me my pup back and I am so grateful �

I had to make the worst decision of my Life And put my 7 month old kitten down after rushing him here because of seizures. The staff were so patient with me while I spent hours asking questions, running more tests and not being able to make the call to put him down. They were gracious, calming and understanding while I was completely inconsolable. After nearly 6 hrs and the nurse coming in 8 times to see if I was ready, Levi passed in my arms. I received a lovely hand written card from the doctor who helped me that evening.

I cannot thank the staff at this clinic enough. Over the last 6 months, we’ve been in 3 times with the same dog for a couple of different reasons. ALWAYS after-hours or on weekends when our usual small town clinics are closed. They have provided exceptional care every single time.

I brought our chocolate Lab, Baylee, in this afternoon for a suspected UTI and right from the get go the clinic staff was amazing! Friendly and very helpful as soon as I walked in the door with a very excited dog.

Of course my vet was top notch, because I had Dr Lindsay! Who will have Miss Baylee back to to 100% in no time!

Fish Creek is extremely lucky to have Dr Lindsay on staff and Calgary is very lucky to have Fish Creek!

Each and every experience, we as a rescue organization, have had with the amazing people that make up the Fish Creek medical caring team has been exceptional.

They treat every life as one to be honoured and cared for.

Brought my puppy here, she needed hospitalization and they were the most understanding facility ever. When you need a companionate place for the best care for your fur babies this is the place!
