Fort Calgary

The name is deceiving as the Fort has not existed for decades. The site is still the original Fort location. The museum provides a good overview of the history of Calgary. Good option if you have an hour or two.

Where it all started. Fort Calgary is where the town was founded, and it's now a historical museum. It's not only a museum, but they often use their grounds for concerts and events too. Great place, nice staff. Bring tourists here, they'll love it.

Modern displays that tell the history of how Calgary started. Invaluable for gaining context on the cultural clash between Indian and European cultures around the treaties and European settlement. Learn about the conditions of the first city dwellers at the turn of the last century.

Good for killing a couple hours. Exhibits are geared towards children, school trips, as evidenced by the social media style "xxx liked this" and "xxx posted a picture".

Love the place. Every Calgarian must visit to get a glimpse of Calgary's history. Even has replicas of Calgary life of by gone era. Treaty 7 was on display when we went and consider it privilege considering it will go back to national archives soon.

We had a great time. Lots of good history. This makes a great homeschool history day. Cute little gift shop. It takes a good two hours and we didn't get to read everything. Nice walk outside too.

It's a small and simple structure. It's definitely worth a visit at least once in a lifetime if you happen to be in Calgary. I found it nice that they were created and telling the story and using something that kids would relate to in terms of social media. That was extremely creative and deserves a five-star. I gave it to 3-star because in terms of cultural things to do it's not really that exciting and it took all of an hour and that's because I was being super slow and reading every single thing.

I've only been here once but I enjoyed it. They have it pretty updated inside to include a sense of humor which makes it more interesting to read about the history which is usually pretty dry. Good job on that! Everything is in pretty good shape and not run down. Worth a trip and the price of admission.
