Fort Mcmurray Islamic School Description
Fort McMurray Islamic School teaches the Alberta curriculum from an Islamic perspective by Alberta certified teachers.
Quran, Arabic and Islamic Studies are taught as subject areas, along with a highly specialised academic program. Islamic principles are evident in the school environment. In 2005, FMIS joined the Fort McMurray Public School Board as a school offering an alternative Islamic program. FMIS offers Islam-based education to today’s youth for tomorrow’s leaders.

FMIS phones are currently down. We are working to get them operational as quickly as possible.
Note to all parents and students that the judging to see who goes to the district coding competition will happen on Thursday at lunch.
FMIS will be having a food drive from November 20th-December 20th to support our local food bank. Parents and students are asked to please bring in any non-perishable food items to help support the cause.
FMIS will be holding a Family Connection information session for parents on Wednesday, November 21st from 8:45-9:45 am. If there is enough interest we are hoping to run this program regularly. It is an opportunity for parents to get support regarding students needs and expectations, how parents can help their children, or any questions and topics parents feel would help them in supporting their children. Hope to see you there.
FMIS is having their student council elections. Good luck to all of the participants. There are many great leaders and I know the new council will work to make sure FMIS continues to be an incredible school.
There is an excellent opportunity for FMIS students interested in participating in a local and potentially national Spelling Bee. There will be an information session held this Saturday, November 17th. Interested students can view detailed registration information on the FMIS website.
Congratulations to Adam J in 4L for winning the $25 dollar book fair draw. Mr. Deveau also receives $25 dollars in books for being Adam’s teacher.
