Went for a couple games with my husband tonight after dinner. Was nervous because we heard alot of negative reviews about rude staff but honestly the staff working were fantastic. The young blonde server we had was knowledgeable and very friendly and the young man who got us our bowling shoes and assigned us our lane was very nice and pleasant as well. The beer was cold and the glasses were clean. Only odd thing was the bowling balls were a little bit greasy and we couldn't hear the music at all.



Overall though it was alot of fun and I will definitely go back. I would love to try the laser tag!

The guys from work and I love coming here to watch sports on the big screen or any one of the t.v.s they have in dining area. The family also comes here to bowl. The nephews love lazer tag. my nephews want a birthday party there because they see kids at the birthday parties having fun. Servers are friendly. Saw a woman with short dark blonde hair come out of the office on the main floor to help a lady wheelchair. She also moved these bright kids slides out of the way to make sure they are not obstructing the ramp. The staff at Gateway strive to see that their guests have a great experience. When you look at all the people that go there if 30 people are giving a negative than Gateway must be doing something right.

Had a lot of fun at Gateway this past Sunday - bowled 2 games, my daughter played some of the arcade games and won a couple of stuffed toys. The only reason I'm giving a 4 instead of a 5 was that many of the games were not working, which was a bit of a bummer. It was super easy to get a lane, there was lots of choice for balls and we had a great time. Especially love the cartoons on the screen for high scores - someone has a fantastic sense of humour!

They offer multiple entertainment activities besides bowling so if you want to try your hand at arcade games, laser tag or pool it's a fun place to be at. My only concern is the place is old and it's showing its unkept side these days. I still can smell smoke from the walls and ceiling and how long ago has it been since no smoking has been allowed??? So I hope they spend some money and clean it up and make it look new again. They are no longer the only place in town to offer multiple activities under one roof. The Rec Room does all this plus so much more all in a brand new state of the art two story super building!

Some of the staff were very kind and helpful but one in particular soured the groups opinion of the place. Surprisingly it was the you ger staff that were more pleasant. This individual was rude when we first called to inquire about lanes. Didn't tell us that Wednesday was free for women until after saying it would be $139 for the lanes (so she likely would have charged us if we weren't hesitant at first). When we arrived, we were uncertain about out numbers and rather than simply stating that we needed to know so that she could program the machine gave us quite a bit of sass while explaining. When we asked about the possibility of changing our number because 2 people dropped out last minute, she was rude once more because we shouldn't have started without them. While I understand her point, we didn't want to hold up a lane by simply waiting.



The lanes were fine although a bit glitch at time. It upped our scores,so ad less competative folk, it made it fun. It was just the one lady that made this night les than spectacular.

They said no they could not and would not move us and sighed, saying they would get us more chairs. They then went over to the kids party group and rudely told them they had to give us back the chairs, ruining the experience for both groups of people when they literally had fifteen other lanes they could have just moved us to. Are you seriously telling me bowling is so outdated they can't switch lanes before the game even start or split a bill? They weren't even friendly about any of it! To top it off the people who were later assigned the lane next to us requested to be moved AND WERE; so there was literally no reason they couldn't have moved us. Should really rethink your staffing if they are gonna treat customers like garbage.

Bowling was fun but service was horrendous. Was told there were 3 servers for the one side of the lanes and not one stopped by to see if we wanted anything the entire time we were there- for 2 hours. Had to hunt a server down when we were half way through our first game to order some drinks and food; drinks came right away but food took an hour. My kids were getting hangry. All we had ordered was a small pizza, chili fries, and spinach artichoke dip; nothing that should have taken an hour!!! Then when I wanted another drink, had to catch the server to order since I knew how this worked now. my friends and i went to gateway lanes to play billiards. i bought a pitcher of beer and the lady gave me 2 glass with lipstick on it.. i ask the lady i need a replacement and gave me a new one but not cold. i ask the cold glass and she said they dont have available. i ask for ice and she told me seriously ur putting ice on your beer. i told her yeah my husband want it cold. then i saw the glass again with lipstick on it and she ask me really.? so i told her here take a look.. and she was like im asking too much.. then she gave me a cold glass so i told her u said u dont have available cold glass then now ur givong me one. then she said it limited only.. the hell im a customer.. she dont deserved to work on a busy place like this especially weekends. she dont know how to treat a customer.. and then my friend came and order again a pitcher of beer and they got a glass with lipstick on it worst than the one i got. lolz.. this place is fucking hilarious.. good thing i was tryin to be nice.. she dont deserve a tip.. bitch.

Went to play bowling. Had 12 empty lanes and was advised that it was a 2hr wait???? When I asked why, I was told there is a 10 lane reservation coming in an hour? Last time I check one game took maybe 30 minutes. Horrible service.

We have had the worst customer service experience here. We had my stepsons birthday party here and wee given a jug of orange PPP that had a screw in the bottom! Though the hostess apologized and told us to call on Monday and we would be issued a discount we were no - in fact the person we spoke to was rude and dismissive. We also repeated an old stool that was left just outside the party room where the kids could easily access it and when my older stepson say in it he had a nail poke him. We received no apology - nothing. As a corporate event planner o find this incomprehensible in a facility whose bread and butter is corporate and private events. I will never send a client here and will ensure no other planners of my acquaintance does either. In addition we have filed a report with Alberta Health.

Unfortunately I must leave a 1 star. Everything about my visit yesterday was awful. I took my girlfriend and 2 kids for a fun time bowling but from the moment I walked in to the moment I left was terrible. The women behind the desk were unapproachable, lazy and have no idea what customer service is. The equipment was broken so I had to bowl with the rails up like the kids and the one lady told me “just don’t use them”. How do adults not use them if it will bounce the ball back into the pins you ridiculous woman? The washrooms were filthy and the water didn’t work on the sink, there were holes in seats and when my little girl thanked a guy for putting the broken rails up he was miserable and barely replied. Every staff member that worked yesterday should be jobless. ZERO STARS!!!!

I would never recommend having a birthday party here. The website is misleading. "they have party experts... The party host takes care of everything, parents kick back and relax" you're dreaming if u think that's going to happen. Our party host was nice but only showed up for maybe total of 15 minutes for a 3 1/2 hour $500+ birthday party.

I always go to gateway lane to play pool. Today, i went to pay cash and asked for a receipt and the answer i got is "we do not give receipt for cash" this is a crime. It is under table cash and 110% illegal. You can be shut down for this. Watch out. Also, when i pay for my pool, its always nice to get the exact change and not being told "sorry we dont carry 5 or 10 cent. I always feel like im being stolen in this place. Employees are rude, no class, security looks like 16 years old guys just chillin' around. Music is totally depress 50% of the time, really bad looking in the play pool area. Charges you way too much for food, POP and alcohol. Please, review your store. It is not legal and not fun to come at.

Firstly, I have sent 2 emails and 1 message to gateway and have not received a reply. Has anyone who had a negative experience ever had a satisfactory reply from gateway? Any reply at all?



I had a birthday party at gateway for myself and 11 friends (12 total) which we booked and paid for in advance.

I was very disappointed by the bowling experience we had. We had several problems with the scores not working, the balls not returning and the pins not resetting. We had to ask for assistance at the desk several times (about 8 or 9 times). It we spent as much time waiting as we did bowling. At one point the lane tech that went to fix a problem informed us that the problem would take about 20 minutes to fix and they had no other lanes to move us to.... so we waited.

Through the many problems we experienced, the young man fixing the problems was helpful, however, the people at the desk were rude.

My guests started remarking that "this is crazy" and "nothing works".

I don't think that myself or the others in my party would be inclined to book a lane and pre-pay for a party again, nor could I recommend gateway to others in the future.

When asked for different lane she said other 3 lanes are broken so can't give those lanes and after 10 min she gave all those lanes to other people and she said lane can not be on hold but next lane to our lane was empty when v asked if v can get that lane she said its on hold and they went out for food and will be back in 1hr and its on hold

The lanes were fine although a bit glitch at time. It upped our scores,so ad less competative folk, it made it fun. It was just the one lady that made this night les than spectacular.

**Edit: I just got off the phone with one of their managers who was determined to make it all right. The girls we unfortunately had to deal with don't represent everyone on their team, and while I think they still have some staffing issues, they are worth giving another shot since they are trying to fix things!!!**





The customer service here was the worst! Went bowling with 5 people and the cashier sneered at us, rolled her eyes, and said she couldn't split the bill and we had to all pay together. She then glared at us as we left and I know they can split a bill as we've done it before. She was completely rude, it was completely unnecessary. They put us next to a kids birthday party, and the party group had taken all the chairs so we nicely asked to be moved so we would not have to disturb their party. They said no they could not and would not move us and sighed, saying they would get us more chairs. They then went over to the kids party group and rudely told them they had to give us back the chairs, ruining the experience for both groups of people when they literally had fifteen other lanes they could have just moved us to. Are you seriously telling me bowling is so outdated they can't switch lanes before the game even start or split a bill? They weren't even friendly about any of it! To top it off the people who were later assigned the lane next to us requested to be moved AND WERE; so there was literally no reason they couldn't have moved us. Should really rethink your staffing if they are gonna treat customers like garbage.

Bowling was fun but service was horrendous. Was told there were 3 servers for the one side of the lanes and not one stopped by to see if we wanted anything the entire time we were there- for 2 hours. Had to hunt a server down when we were half way through our first game to order some drinks and food; drinks came right away but food took an hour. My kids were getting hangry. All we had ordered was a small pizza, chili fries, and spinach artichoke dip; nothing that should have taken an hour!!! Then when I wanted another drink, had to catch the server to order since I knew how this worked now. We had fun bowling but was really disappointed with the service, especially for how expensive it was. For the 3 of us to bowl 2 games with shoe rentals was $69. Then ended up spending another $60 on food and drinks. Expensive night.

my friends and i went to gateway lanes to play billiards. i bought a pitcher of beer and the lady gave me 2 glass with lipstick on it.. i ask the lady i need a replacement and gave me a new one but not cold. i ask the cold glass and she said they dont have available. i ask for ice and she told me seriously ur putting ice on your beer. i told her yeah my husband want it cold. then i saw the glass again with lipstick on it and she ask me really.? so i told her here take a look.. and she was like im asking too much.. then she gave me a cold glass so i told her u said u dont have available cold glass then now ur givong me one. then she said it limited only.. the hell im a customer.. she dont deserved to work on a busy place like this especially weekends. she dont know how to treat a customer.. and then my friend came and order again a pitcher of beer and they got a glass with lipstick on it worst than the one i got. lolz.. this place is fucking hilarious.. good thing i was tryin to be nice.. she dont deserve a tip.. bitch.

Went to play bowling. Had 12 empty lanes and was advised that it was a 2hr wait???? When I asked why, I was told there is a 10 lane reservation coming in an hour? Last time I check one game took maybe 30 minutes. Horrible service.

We have had the worst customer service experience here. We had my stepsons birthday party here and wee given a jug of orange PPP that had a screw in the bottom! Though the hostess apologized and told us to call on Monday and we would be issued a discount we were no - in fact the person we spoke to was rude and dismissive. We also repeated an old stool that was left just outside the party room where the kids could easily access it and when my older stepson say in it he had a nail poke him. We received no apology - nothing. As a corporate event planner o find this incomprehensible in a facility whose bread and butter is corporate and private events. I will never send a client here and will ensure no other planners of my acquaintance does either. In addition we have filed a report with Alberta Health.

Unfortunately I must leave a 1 star. Everything about my visit yesterday was awful. I took my girlfriend and 2 kids for a fun time bowling but from the moment I walked in to the moment I left was terrible. The women behind the desk were unapproachable, lazy and have no idea what customer service is. The equipment was broken so I had to bowl with the rails up like the kids and the one lady told me “just don’t use them”. How do adults not use them if it will bounce the ball back into the pins you ridiculous woman? The washrooms were filthy and the water didn’t work on the sink, there were holes in seats and when my little girl thanked a guy for putting the broken rails up he was miserable and barely replied. Every staff member that worked yesterday should be jobless. ZERO STARS!!!!

The service was absolutely terrible. Every single employee we dealt with was very rude. The facility was dirty and the lane we were given had broken bumpers. Not worth the money.

I would never recommend having a birthday party here. The website is misleading. "they have party experts... The party host takes care of everything, parents kick back and relax" you're dreaming if u think that's going to happen. Our party host was nice but only showed up for maybe total of 15 minutes for a 3 1/2 hour $500+ birthday party.

I always go to gateway lane to play pool. Today, i went to pay cash and asked for a receipt and the answer i got is "we do not give receipt for cash" this is a crime. It is under table cash and 110% illegal. You can be shut down for this. Watch out. Also, when i pay for my pool, its always nice to get the exact change and not being told "sorry we dont carry 5 or 10 cent. I always feel like im being stolen in this place. Employees are rude, no class, security looks like 16 years old guys just chillin' around. Music is totally depress 50% of the time, really bad looking in the play pool area. Charges you way too much for food, POP and alcohol. Please, review your store. It is not legal and not fun to come at.

Firstly, I have sent 2 emails and 1 message to gateway and have not received a reply. Has anyone who had a negative experience ever had a satisfactory reply from gateway? Any reply at all?



I had a birthday party at gateway for myself and 11 friends (12 total) which we booked and paid for in advance.

I was very disappointed by the bowling experience we had. We had several problems with the scores not working, the balls not returning and the pins not resetting. We had to ask for assistance at the desk several times (about 8 or 9 times). It we spent as much time waiting as we did bowling. At one point the lane tech that went to fix a problem informed us that the problem would take about 20 minutes to fix and they had no other lanes to move us to.... so we waited.

Through the many problems we experienced, the young man fixing the problems was helpful, however, the people at the desk were rude.

My guests started remarking that "this is crazy" and "nothing works".

I don't think that myself or the others in my party would be inclined to book a lane and pre-pay for a party again, nor could I recommend gateway to others in the future.

Don't come here for food or good service!!!! Service was unreal slow. And waitress can't even admit she needs to write things down so she won't forget. My daughters meal was forgotten about and a appitizer we ordered. Then blank stare from the waitress .... My first time and my last time...

Counter lady was so rude and gives hard time and lies

When asked for different lane she said other 3 lanes are broken so can't give those lanes and after 10 min she gave all those lanes to other people and she said lane can not be on hold but next lane to our lane was empty when v asked if v can get that lane she said its on hold and they went out for food and will be back in 1hr and its on hold
