About Ghana Education Foundation

Canadian registered charity with the vision to establish and maintain a public library and provide scholarships for the needy children in Mankessim, Ghana.

Ghana Education Foundation Description

Current Projects:
The library will provide a direct service to Mankessim community. The local population is about 20, 000 with four high schools in the area but has no library. The Mfantseman district capital, Saltpond, also has no Library. Thus a district with a population of about 152, 858 has no library in it’s district capital therefore even with the establishment of this community library, some people may travel long distances from surrounding villages to use this facility. Infact due to this dire need, this project responds directly to the community needs

The Scholarship Programme and the Library Project would help us to educate some of the people who say women would be married so their education is not important, as well as those under the notion that a child belongs to the maternal family so the father could refuse to be responsible for his own child. This is the prevelent thought of many people in developing countries who feel the same. For this foundation, both genders will have equal opportunities in the fulfilment of their cherished dreams.

"The Literacy Foundation promises to be a source of blessing for our bubbling town of Mankessim in the Central Region of Ghana. I thank Mr. Orleans Kodwo Pobee for pursuing the inspiration he had to bring his idea to birth." - Dr. John C. Hagan, Ph.D Ex-Professor, University of Cape Coast, Ghana
