Gillian Verhey Yoga Description
Yoga started for me as a way to relieve tension in my joints, a condition doctors could tell me nothing about. I found relief from this chronic pain spending time on a yoga mat. My first experience with yoga was around 2005 at Lotus Soul Gym.
During a trip to Asia in 2007 I enrolled in a 10 day hot yoga challenge and that is where my spiritual journey with yoga began. The intense heat in the room was so overwhelming I had to concentrate on my breath every moment of class praying I wouldn’t fall over. This is where enlightenment slowly began to sneak into my life, I remember the teacher asking us not to drift away during savasana, to stay in the moment just a few breaths longer and as we did so a sense of peace overtook me.
In 2010 I packed up my belongings and headed to the Sivananda Ashram in the Bahamas to complete my 200hr TTC.
I believe yoga is a personal experience and look forward to guiding individuals on the path intended for them.
