About Glory Lutheran Church

We are a Christian community that is Scripture and Christ-centred, so that God's glory and love may be reflected to others through us. Worship is the heart of our life together with blended traditional /contemporary services usually with a praise band.

Glory Lutheran Church Description

"Glory to God in the highest, and peace to God's people on earth. " This may be one of the most familiar verses from the Bible as it occurs in the Christmas story of Jesus' birth. It can also serve as the introduction to who we are as a congregation. We want to echo the song of the angels in the fields of Bethlehem giving glory to God in worship ("reaching up"). We want to bring peace in Christ's name to the peoples of the earth ("reaching out"). We want to gather around the manger and the cross of Jesus in loving community ("reaching in").

We are located on a 40 acre parcel of land along the Old Man creek in Sherwood Park, Alberta. We are bounded on two other sides by Highway 21, and by the east-west CP rail-line. We are constantly reminded of God's creation and our place in the community of life, as we observe deer, beavers, swallows, wood-peckers, hawks, herons, gophers, bees, over the course of the seasons around our church building. We are also reminded of the growth of plant life and the abundance of food in our hay field, vegetable garden, fruit orchard (just starting), and bee hives. We like to call it Glory land.
Our ministry extends from the communion table in our sanctuary to the Bissel Centre lunch table in Edmonton, to the Sherwood Park food bank, and to ministries of service in other countries through our partners at Canadian Lutheran World Relief.
Our community is an open one for anyone searching for a place to belong, a place to explore the meaning of life, a place to worship God and mark life's milestones, and a place to serve neighbors.
As part of the 15th century reform movement started by Martin Luther, we belong to the one holy universal church of Jesus Christ.
We welcome you!
