The idea for Pink Shirt Day comes from two Nova Scotia high school students in 2007. When a fellow student was being bullied for wearing a pink shirt, they decided to take a stand. They went out and bought pink shirts to give to fellow students to show their support for a boy who was being bullied simply for wearing a pink shirt.
We invite you to join us by wearing pink on Wednesday, February 27, to show you’re taking a stand, or making an effort to practice kindness and acceptance, or even giving a donation or fundraising to support programs that foster children’s healthy self-esteem. #PinkShirtDay

Did you know that February 15th was Annoy Your Boss Day? Staff at Good Samaritan Good Shepherd Home in Wetaskiwin, A.B., took full advantage of "annoying" their boss, Lindsay. They taped her office hallway shut and filled it with balloons and chairs. They also stole her chair and pens. You know you have a great team when you can have fun like this! 😄

This week is Because You Care Week. The Canadian Association for Long Term Care - CALTC is urging all Members of Parliament across the country to show their commitment to Canada’s seniors by participating in the 1st Annual #BECAUSEYOUCARE campaign. This new national initiative aims to raise awareness about the various challenges the long-term care sector continues to face.

Good Samaritan Pembina Village in Evansburg, Alta., in partnership with the local library holds a Kids & Kuddles program on the third Friday of every month.
In January, residents, kids, and volunteers enjoyed rolling and passing the softshell ice cream ball maker around. Needless to say, everyone loved having a taste of the vanilla ice cream that was made!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY! Do you like to ride bikes? Do you like to get exercise? Do you like to help those in need and volunteer in your community? If you answered yes to these questions, please consider this exciting opportunity!
The DUET bike allows residents of Good Samaritan Heron Grove in Vernon, B.C., to go on bicycle rides with loved ones, staff or volunteers. It also enables residents in wheelchairs to be transferred from their own wheelchair or bed and into the wheelc...hair that attaches to the bicycle, allowing more residents the ability to go for a ride in the beautiful sunny Okanagan!

Christmas may be over, but we want to acknowledge and thank all of our Christmas Angels who went above and beyond to ensure that any of those in our care who wouldn't typically receive a gift did. Across our organization, staff, volunteers and community partners come together to make this program a success, we want to say THANK YOU for helping us Make Life More. Below is a story about the program at Good Samaritan Heron Grove in Vernon, B.C.
