One of the better good life's in Calgary. Only thing it lack are benches although I was there at peak times. Hot tub was an added bonus.

Great place to do your work outs, friendly and helpful staff.

I signed up for a 7 day membership to test out the gym and was ready to sign up for a 2 year membership, mainly out of proximity to home.

When I went in to sign the contract, I was told that I had an outstanding balance of $250 from when I was a member 2 years ago. I was told that it was sent to collection (affecting my credit negatively) and that I would have to pay the full amount to be able to sign up again.

First, I wasn't able to get an explanation to why I had that $250 outstanding. I was given a 1-800 number and every time I call, it says they can't take new callers and hangs up. The request forms on line don't work, so I can't even get an explanation from their head offices.

Second, they sold the debt to a collection company, which means that it was written off by them and they no longer own said debt. Asking to collect on a debt they no longer own is misleading and deceptive. They want me to pay the $250, for which they have no explanation, and if I were to pay, then there is still a collection company out there I still owe $250 to as well. Now I'm out $500 ?!

That is definitely double dipping and they are more worried about squeezing money from customers than they are about customer retention.

As for the gym itself, it is located in eau claire market, which is depressing and deserted most of the time. It starts your gym routine in a depressing mood. There are a lot of squat cages, but the cardio machines are outdated and falling apart. The stationary bicycles aren't bolted down properly, so they shake or are unbalanced when peddling with any effort. Most of the TVs come in grainy on the cardio equipment.

Definitely not enough room for the free weights, so people are constantly stepping on each other for space. Then people are forced to work out around the squat cages, which makes using them very awkward.

There are plenty of better gyms in my opinion in the core, that offer a better atmosphere and aren't only worried about gouging customers

I've been going there for 2 years after trying out other gyms in Calgary.

My regular gym. Friendly helpful staff and decent hours. Well maintained equipment. Only three racks and two flat benches means you'll often be waiting in line, though.

Great staff, environment, and overall gym. 5 stars requires a basketball court

Unfortunately this location has taken out the heavy bag. Good life has now officially castrated itself and undergone sexual reassignment.

Not a great layout compared to other larger GoodLife. Dated inside a bit . Some of the rooms looked under construction. All in all it has the equipment you need for a moderate work out but I prefer the one by airport and back home in b.c

Eau Claire is one of the smaller and more popular GoodLife locations in Calgary, which means it can get crowded during peak hours. Generally speaking the equipment is kept clean and in good repair, only occasionally are items taken "out of order". The staff at this location are among the friendliest in the city.
