Grande Cache Medical Centre Description

We are looking for one or two general practitioners / family doctors to join our medical clinic and hospital practice. We presently have 5 doctors but one will soon be retiring and another moving in about 6 months.

We each work about 20-25 hours per week of direct patient contact at the clinic (with probably an extra 2-3 hours per week on paper work). We also share "on-call" at the hospital /emergency department amounting to one day a week and essentially one weekend per month. The compensation is very good and our overhead low.

We have an electronic medical record at the clinic and good services at the hospital with comprehensive lab services and digital radiography (with prompt telephone backup from radiologists and orthopedic surgeons in Grande Prairie). We have about 10 acute care beds, Long Term Care, a Seniors' Lodge integrated with the hospital and Physio /Occupational Therapy.

We are two hundred km to our referral centre in Grande Prairie with a breadth of specialist services. A lot of obstetrical and endoscopy consults are referred to Hinton, 140 km to the south. Although we are in a relatively remote community, we have good access both for telephone support and referrals to our neighboring specialists. We, as a group here, help each other out as needed.

Our town has about 5000 people located in Grande Cache in the mountains of Western Alberta. We have a fantastic recreation centre with lane pool, children's wave pool and fitness programs. There are all sorts of outdoor recreational activities and community groups. The main industries are coal mining, lumber mill / forestry, oil and gas, a federal prison, tourism and all the services in town to support the population.

I have been a physician here for 15 years. My wife and I have raised our 3 children here. We have been very happy here are committed to the community.

We need to have someone licensed in Canada (Alberta specifically). If you are from outside Alberta or an International Medical Graduate, then please contact the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta for details. (Here is a page on their website that answers some questions: http://www. cpsa. ab. ca /services /Registration_Department /Licensing_Registration_FAQs. aspx.

If you are interested, we would be interested in having a look at your CV. Please email it to me at gcmedcen@telus.net and then we could arrange a time to talk.
