Check out this helpful tool off of the Alberta Government Website! Happy Saturday!
Thought I’d take a second and talk about 2 annual permits clients often tell us they have never heard of before. They are required when using triaxle groupings in your configurations.
The first is A TAC Permit - This permit is issued To Operate Triaxle Configurations Off Provincial Highways , this permit is also issued when your configuration is exceeding 53,500kgs such as Super B configurations, Quad Wagons etc. This permit is needed if you would like to be ...recognized for triaxle weights of 24,000kgs on local roads.
The second is a Fleet Tridrive Exemption - This permit is issued to be provincially recognized as a Triaxle on the drive axle grouping of your truck- meaning you can haul for 23,000kgs on your drive axle instead of only being recognized as a tandem axle drive allowing 17,000kgs.
If you are using a triaxle grouping in your fleet or operating a configuration exceeding the GVW of 53,500kgs please give our office a call at 1.866.303.1972.
