First visit to HedKandi at hotel arts this week, and it was amazing. The atmosphere is very relaxed and modern, the staff are all super friendly. I was referred by my bestie to see Melissa and she was Awesome! I chopped my long hair for a short LOB and she gave me exactly what I wanted ...which is such a relief. Cutting your hair off is kinda stressful, but she made it so fun and relaxing :)
Thanks to everyone at the salon ❤️

The atmosphere is always very welcoming! The stylists and their associates are wonderful! They really help you and give you suggestions for the hairstyle you want and they educate you with their products that suits you to style it at home.

To start off, I never ever write reviews on here. Also, I have had amazing experiences at Red Bloom, Jerome, Head Kandi on 8th Street, and many other high end salons in the past... but I have to say - I was really let down by my experience at Head Kandi Hotel Arts location today, August 5, 2017. I called into the salon last week and asked to book an appointment for a colour. I advised the receptionist that I have sewn in extensions and that I want them to be low lighted as they are a bit lighter than my hair. I specifically confirmed with the receptionist that my stylist would be comfortable working with extensions and blonde hair. I was reassured that the senior stylist I would be seeing was amazing with blondes and there would be no issue with extensions.

I booked the day off of work to head into my appointment, was politely greeted by reception and seated in the waiting area. My stylist came to take me to her station and I showed her a few photos of what I was looking for. She rudely said to me "umm, I don't dye extensions." I said, "okay, I am confused as I booked in with you as I was told that you work well with them." She again in an unapologetic way told me that she has tried to dye them in the past and they look really bad and "un-natural" so she doesn't dye them on anyone anymore. She offered to die the top of my hair (my natural) but said she would not touch extensions. I politely advised that this was not what I was looking for, and I said "I guess I won't be getting my hair done today?" She answered saying "I guess." With no apology or sincerity in her voice at all. I felt absolutely embarrassed walking out of the salon, taking off the apron that I had put on and setting down my coffee. As I walked out she ran to the front desk and did not even say goodbye to me, offer an apology, or walk me out. I half expected I may receive a phone call from the salon after they realized their mistake, apologizing, but I heard nothing.

When you are paying upwards of $300 for hair, you would think you would be treated with respect and courtesy - seriously girls, save your money and go to another salon - this location does not care at all about their clients and their hair stylists apparently do not know how to dye extensions - which come on, it's 2017!

The worst hair colour I've ever had. I asked for a dark-rooted ombre/balayage into a lighter ash grey at the bottom, and I received blue hair. It was bright blue and patchy with a green undertone. The roots started to turn green and it was altogether a disaster. I couldn't get my money back, so they offered to fix it for me. Blue is a really hard colour to get out, so it took a lot of bleach. Sarah Lane redid my colour, and she is a fantastic lady who really did wonders. For that, I am grateful and would personally recommend her (especially for colour correction) but I don't feel comfortable going back to that salon otherwise.

I see Sarah P here, when I found her on Instagram I thought she must be a senior stylist the way her work looked. But to my (pleasant) surprise she's listed as new talent. I would highly recommend her, she did right by my hair for an affordable price and she was extremely nice and attentive to my hair goals. Ive been counting down the days to my next appointment!

I got my hair done by farhana, I found her on instagram and her work that she posted was amazing. I booked her about a month ago and I was not impressed. She did warn me my hair was going to be a little brassy which I understood but I wasn't trying to go lighter but have more of a dark chocolate brown and my hair is nowhere close to that which I thought was more realistic for my hair as it's already dark and I knew it wouldn't be the exact color I was going for right away but my hair is literally orange (mind you I haven't dyed my hair in 3 years and had chopped off the dyed part in the last 3 years) I have to tone my own hair to keep it looking like a carrot, the weird part is she was able to do the darker brown near the top of my hair? Also after a couple days I noticed that she missed cutting a few chunks of my hair that were literally about 2 inches longer (how she missed that I have no idea), I have one strand of hair that she cut too short which sucks because it's near the front and I also asked for a razor lob and she never once picked up the razor which apparently she specializes in? I paid $600 and I would expect to walk out with at least a decent haircut/color which by the way I was blindsided about as I have gotten my hair coloured and cut by a educator at the bankers hall location before which cost me about $400 again it was quite expensive but at least I walked out with what I wanted but $600??? I will definitely not be going back.

Also on a side note she seems to only "choose" to put more effort on hair that she wants, I noticed that when I was there. So if she's not into your hair expect to walk out of there disappointed and $600 in the hole.

And if you don't believe me I posted a picture - yeah it's that orange one you can't miss it and in natural light no filter. ...

Booked in with a senior stylist so high price rate was expected. First couple of visits were phenomenal but the last time they upped my price for root highlights and a cut from $250 to over $400. I would have been ok spending the money had her assistant not done the whole job. My highlights were also chunky and patchy underneath. Looked like they had tried to cover it up in hopes that I wouldn't notice. There explanation for the price was that they used 2 toners and did a hair treatment. I was not made aware that they were doing these extra treatments on my hair. When I'm quoted $250 I expect it to be $250 not $400 and I expect most of the job to be done by the master stylist. I will not be back.
