The pristine wilderness of the Canadian Rockies attracted many tourists in the late 1800s, and Canadian Pacific Railway built this station in about 1890 on its main line at Laggan (now Lake Louise). This station and the one at Banff were designed to have both an air of coziness and a proximity to nature, complementing their mountain settings.

Livingston House was among the earliest homes in the Calgary area. Sam Livingston – an innovative farmer who was once contracted to supply fresh meat to the North West Mounted Police at Fort Calgary – built his barn around 1878, and the house circa 1883. The home was originally built just beyond where it stands today, in an area that is now filled by the Glenmore Reservoir.
Tonight's free Music in the Plaza performance features Tim Williams. This legendary bluesman combines passionate and soulful vocals with awe-inspiring chops on a number of string instruments. Catch him tonight between 6pm - 8pm.
Just horsin' around.
By 1900, farmers in Western Canada were delivering grain to the more than 450 grain elevators that dotted the prairies. The grain elevator now at Heritage Park was built in Shonts, AB, in 1909; in 1967 the Alberta Wheat Pool made a generous donation to the Park which allowed us to relocate and restore this iconic piece of Alberta history.
Have you had the chance yet to eat at the Selkirk Grille? This casually elegant Canadian restaurant is located before the park gates, and is open year-round. Stop in for lunch, dinner, or try our Sunday Brunch.
Help keep history alive! Throughout the month of July, simply text “HERITAGE” to 45678 to make a donation of $10, $20, or $25 to Heritage Park. It's that easy! As little as $10 helps us continue to bring history to life for generations to come. Funds raised will support educational programs at Heritage Park.
