Hertz Rent A Car

My experience here wasn't that bad. The lady was courteous and explained the fees and optional ones too like full gas tank or insurance coverage (we didn't opt for that). The car we rented was relatively clean... there was a sock underneath and stains on the backs of the seats so I'm guessing they didn't really check through the car before giving it out. Return was pretty easy, just parked the car there in the returns section. Overall good experience!

This store is super slow. 2 employees are working for 20 clients. Good company to choose for waiting

Perhaps slightly understaffed, so had a short wait to collect. Otherwise, no complaints.. Hertz staff were courteous in Calgary, and also when I returned the vehicle in Banff. No surprises with the final invoice, so perfectly satisfied with the overall customer experience.

I read all the terrible reviews and felt like I should write about my positive experience. I booked an economy car (via Expedia) prior to reading these reviews - as you can imagine, I was a bit worried about what to expect. However, I can say that everything went smoothly. The paperwork was quick and painless and the service was friendly. Honestly, it was one of the fastest check outs I'd ever experienced for a rental car. The car itself was what I requested and very clean. There were no hidden fees, hassles or pressure tactics when I declined the insurance. The drop off process was similarly fast and efficient. The service seems to have definitely improved from the prior reviews.

Worst service ever, they charge extra for GPS?

I was scammed by the lady at the counter of Hertz at this location. The way she did it was adding an insurance coverage that I have denied for the car, asked me to sign on the electronic pad, then printed out the agreement form. I trusted them and did not bother looking over the agreement until the very end, when I returned the car, they printed a receipt with extra charge of the insurance coverage. But I didn't find out about the extra insurance charge until after I have returned the car. Since I have already signed there is nothing I can do. I have found online that car rental companies give commission to the agents that sell the optional coverage, which I assume that's why the lady did it without my consent. Very dirty trick, not good business practice.

If I can give them 0 stars I would. They charged me for underage fee as I rent the car on my 25th birthday. They asked me to send my personal information to them through E-mail and claimed that they cannot get my E-mails. After I called Hertz customer service, they said they can remove my underage fees but only if I go rate them 5 stars immediately. Hertz totally ruined my trip

Reading these reviews I feel a little bit better about my experience. The first car we were assigned had a dead battery. The clerk came out, tried to start the car (which we'd already done, of course) with the same non-results. He then went back to his counter and just left us standing there. When I went in to find out what was being done, he was serving other customers. I asked him if he would mind finishing up with me and was very rudely told that he was now serving his "gold" customers and I would just have to wait. Wait? What???? Finally found someone else to give us a working car but am still reeling from being treated like a second-class citizen. Too bad because everyone else was very helpful and pleasant. Just goes to show that all it takes is one miserable person to completely ruin a business for you.
