Higher Ground Cafe

This place is the most popular coffee place in Kensington. It is always busy and hard to get a table sometimes, but a great place to catch up with a friend or do some studying. Some of my personal favourites are the Great Divide (chocolate, coffee, raspberry) or the matcha latte. Their coffee is great too if you want to keep it simple. Lots of character to the venue and friendly staff - you can't go wrong.

They really perfected what a café should be. The dim/warm lighting and the blazing fireplaces set a great mood for socializing. Very comfy chairs and wide selection of drinks.

A couple of writer friends recommended Higher Ground when I moved downtown. It's by far the best place for writers who like to write in public. The staff is amazing, and so is the food and drinks (Coconut Cake is bomb). They created an amazing artistic energy that's awesome to hang out in too. Best coffee shop I've been too.

This is one of Calgary's best coffee shops. The coffee is great, the service is great and the atmosphere is fabulous. This place is always busy and there is great local art on the walls. Well worth the trip. Great place to meet friends. Great place for a date or to study!

Great service. Everyone who works here is knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere is great and it's fairly busy and always about half full but you never wait too long. During peak times the line gets long and the café gets full but there's no reason to wait and get your coffee to-go.

This is one of my favorite coffee places in Calgary. There is a lot of seating areas which is good, because the place is always busy but I can usually find a place to sit. Excellent location, the food is fresh and above average quality. Their coffee is high quality and always brewed to perfection. Their staff are friendly and the location is ideal.

Quintessential coffee shop. They have a variety of drinks especially with two of my favourite ingredients, large amounts of caffeine and sugar. It becomes better when you spend the day reading among close friends.

As someone who loves coffee shops, but doesn't actually drink coffee, it's always hard to find a shop that serves really good tea, and this place serves REALLY good tea. I ordered the snow dragon Tea I think was the name, and OMG!! Peppermint tea lovers heaven! The frothy milk on top, and just the perfect amount of sweet. My friend got the Dublin tea, and it was good too! The Irish cream was really different, I don't think I have ever had tea with Irish cream in it. I loved visiting and can't wait to go back! The cakes also looked amazing, and they have a surprisingly large menu for food as well. It was packed busy on a Tuesday evening at 7:30. Was surprised.

Great atmosphere with some delicious treats, although some items are very hit or miss. I am not a big fan of their coffee so I normally go for an iced cappuccino or iced coffee instead. Otherwise it's a good place to grab a coffee with a friend, as it is fairly close to the river for walks afterward. It can be extremely busy and hard to find a spot at times though.
