Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association Description

Official Facebook page for the Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association.

We are the Community Centre and Association for the Communities of Hillhurst and Sunnyside in Central North West Calgary. Located just across the river from the downtown core, we offer child care, outreach and seniors' programming and services.

We also act as a rental facility for community, public and private events, including weddings, conferences, sports and arts classes, dances, and much more.

We operate the Bowview Outdoor Swimming Pool, a weekly Farmers' Market (Wednesday) and Tennis Courts during the summer.

We are home to the city's most popular Sunday flea market each week, and have over 70 vendors!

Our Antique Markets (bi-monthly) and Winter Farmers' Markets (monthly) are also terrific opportunities to shop and socialize with members of the community.

Interested in our programs, becoming a market vendor, or renting a room? Please contact us at 403. 283. 0554 or stop by the building!

Sunnyside landed on this list as #10 most engaged neighbourhood in #yyc !
Sunnyside was also listed as #15 for best Calgary neighbourhood overall. Hillhurst ranked #27 overall. Both areas scored high on engagement, restaurants and walkability.

If today (or any other hot #yyc day) you need a break from the heat please feel free to come into the HSCA building. It’s one of the rare times such a dark room pays off ;) . We have a water fountain and drink machines in the hallway and tables, chairs, benches and couches. Please respect our facility code of conduct and other patrons in the space but do come by if you need a cool spot to sit for a bit. @ Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association

Did you know... the Hillhurst Sunnyside newspaper was established in 1970, and was at the time named The Citizen. The name was changed to The Voice in 1982.
Other potential names submitted for consideration were: - Hillhurst Sunnyside Communique - Milktoast and Bourbon... - The Last Post - The Lowest Common Denominator and - Boomtown Gazette (to name a few)

More information on the goats and their role in weed management on the McHugh Bluff!

Goats on McHugh Bluff !!!!!!
The City of Calgary – Your Local Government has hired Vahana Goats www.vahana.ca to help control the weeds along the bluff. They will be setting up camp at the snow drop area-near Center Street bridge. They will have goats and guard dogs as well as horses and some humans at the camp. It would be helpful if people keep their dogs on leashes in this area as the animals maybe nervous until they get settled. Sounds like they have some real friendly g...oats if anyone wants to visit and snuggle with Arrow. You might also see Hughie who is wobbly but is a really good weed eater.

New on the Water for Riley Blog: "Kenzie Webber, ACAD‘s talented Digital Content Coordinator, shaped the story of how W4R brought institutions together, engaged community, and gave students a real-world, client experience.
At several stages, ACAD videographers filmed W4R’s special events. Kenzie features that ACAD footage and this blog’s images in the short video below."

I have been renting space for the Calgary New Age Market at this location for the past 4 years, and I just love the staff and the building! It's such a beautiful facility to hold events in, and they are very accommodating. I would recommend this location to anyone needing space!

I moved into this community last May and am very happy I did. It is a very pleasant place to live, I love the park on 3rd Ave, It has a small town feel to it, where children come to play, people come to sun bathe or picnic. Sunnyside has the very relaxed ambiance of a small town, and is five minutes from the centre.
