Historic Dunvegan Provincial Park Description

Historic Dunvegan tells the story of First Nations people, fur trade and mission history. This area has been an important gathering area to First Nations people for thousands of years. In 1805, Fort Dunvegan, a Northwest Company fur trade fort was established. After the Northwest Company merged with the Hudson's Bay Company in 1821, Fort Dunvegan became a Hudson's Bay Company post and remained in operation until 1918. Catholic and Anglican missionaries also established missions at Dunvegan during the 1800s.
Tours are offered daily from May 15 to Labour Day of four fully restored historic buildings. There is also a film presentation and gallery. A campground, market garden and day use area can be found nearby.
Historic Dunvegan is part of Alberta’s provincial network of historic sites, interpretive centres and museums maintained and operated by the Government of Alberta.
