H&R Block

Told us we were getting a good amount back which we were counting on and only got a third of it and they won't help. They didn't even offer us this 25 dollar guarantee. They want 100 an hour to fix their mistake and we're quite rude about it.

On April 30, 2017, my mom’s common-law was called to come into this location to sign his taxes. After a couple of hours, they filed his taxes and told him he would get a few dollars back. They told me I would have to go to another location to file taxes for my mom who recently passed away. I took everything in the next day and one of the accountants noticed that the taxes weren't filed joint and there were a few mistakes on his. They re-did them and he will be getting quite a bit more back. This would never have been caught if I didn’t have to go to the other location – not impressed.

This was my 7th year using H&R Block and 1st time at the Seton location. It was hands down my worst experience ever with H&R Block. I was asked to bring in our tax information before the appointment. Despite bringing all our paperwork ahead of time, our appointment took 2 hours and 15 minutes. My husbands return took almost an hour and he had 5 simple tax slips. It was so frustrating for it to take long especially when they a) already had our paperwork ahead of time and b) use autofill to download the numbers from Revenue Canada anyways. In addition, an address change was done incorrectly (partially changed to create a non-existent address) on one of our returns which I had to fix with Revenue Canada. Also, there were two major mistakes made on my return resulting in an overall capital gain when it should have been a loss. And I was right there telling and showing my supposed tax professional what numbers to enter. When I discovered the errors, I called the office and left a message. Receiving no call back I went in person only to find a sign stating that the office is closed until Feb. 2018 and directing people to five other H&R locations. When your office is going to be closed for 9 months that might be a useful piece of information to put on the voicemail message. I cant believe we actually paid money for this kind of service.

Long story short. I dropped my taxes off on the 18th of April. Was told they would be done in 48 hours. Picked up my taxes on the 28th of April incomplete. And had to rush to find someone to do them. I have be using h & r block for 20 years until now.
