H&R Block

After reading the reviews for this office, I was a bit scared to come here! However, I received great service when theCRS asked for further information regarding my 2016 returns. Keep up the good work!

Worst place ever. DO NOT go to them to get your taxes done. They made a mistake on my 2015 taxes, and had the audacity to charge me $900 for their mistake. Students. professionals, DO NOT GO TO H&R BLOCK!! I will write this review everywhere so people know. 0 stars!

Gentenleman i delt with on the 4'th of May at 10:00am was hurrying and not understanding my situation. Just not even letting me finish a sentence. So i left and when to Liberty Tax just a block away and their service was exellent! Also cheaper. They charge $85 a year and H&R block charges $100. I was behind on my taxes so this saved me $105 I guess i shoud have should have when back and thanked the H&R block guy for being rude to me as it saved me $105 dollers. lol

I am a working professional and went to this location for tax filing. First I was told that my file needs to be handled by a more experienced and senior employee and that they need to keep it for 24 hours. The next day I received a phone call informing me how much my bill is and that whenever I come pick up my file someone will walk me through in terms of what was done and how they filed my tax (ie what they filed and what they didn't) i showed up and they asked me to pay without having to explain anything.
Overall terrible service and unprofessional work ethics. Avoid at all cost!

I waited 2.5 hours instead of 45 mins, and by the end, they told me the price for their services was six times higher than their competitor.

Would like to give zero stars - huge rip off. Reasons for my poor review:

1. Called to make an appointment, they asked if I could come at 2:15pm Sunday, March 26. When I arrived at 2:15pm on the Sunday, I was told that everyone took a client at 2:00pm so would be a few minutes. I ended up having to wait 35 minutes before my scheduled "appointment". If the agents are taking walk-in's, those people that are scheduled should be considered. I didn't request a certain time, so was as flexible as possible, but was slightly annoyed having to wait 35 minutes when I made an appointment.
2. Was insanely overcharged. After speaking with accountant friends, and having done previous tax returns with H&R block, and looking at the website, I was anticipating a roughly $70-$80 charge. I was never provided step 2 on the website (provide an estimate of how much it'll cost to file the return before proceeding) so at the very end of my appointment had huge sticker shock and was mortified to learn that my return is somehow considered "intermediate" and will cost $157! Outrageous! Since I wasn't provided an estimate beforehand, I was given no choice but to pay. If I was provided an estimate like I was suppose to, I would've respectfully declined and asked a friend to teach me or literally any other option rather than forking out that kind of cash for a simple return!
3. Upon returning home, noticed that $20 of my bill was for a Peace of Mind add on which I was never given a breakdown as to what it was, and if I wanted to add it, so felt taken advantage of that another $20 was tacked on without my consent.
4. After me calling the branch 4 times over 2 days, specifically asking to speak with the manager, I was finally able to have a chat and go over my less than stellar experience. Although I will be refunded $50, I was still grossly overcharged and will never recommend nor take my business to H&R Block ever again.
If you are someone like me who has never learnt to do their own taxes, I strongly recommend either learning, finding a different company or asking a friend/accountant to help you out. You'll save a lot of money!
