I am very grateful for the time I have sent as President this year, it has been one of my favorite law school experiences so far and has stoked the fire I have in me. I know ILSA will be in good hands with Breanna in the role next year. I'm so excited for next year!

Please join us tomorrow between 11:30 to 2pm at the Faculty of Law CN Alumni Hall for ILSA's second annual Indigenous Voices, a roundtable discussion regarding the recent discussions of Tina Fontaine and Colten Boushie and the systemic oppression faced by Indigenous people through the justice system. The conversation is meant to be peaceful but meaningful. We welcome all to attend. A light lunch will be provided.

Congratulations to Osgoode Hall for the implementation of an Inidgenous law course as a required component of their JD curriculum! The class is scheduled to begin in fall 2018 and is a direct response to the TRC's Call to Action #28. It is inspiring to see this progress being made across Canada and ILSA hopes that the University of Alberta's Faculty of Law will follow suit soon too.

On Wednesday March 14, law students across Canada will be hosting teach-ins, walk outs, and protests in support of Colten Boushie and Tina Fontaine. Their intent is to engage the greater student body by raising awareness to the systemic issues Indigenous peoples experience in the justice system. Though the University of Alberta Indigenous Law Students' Association was unable to plan an event for today, we fully support and stand in solidarity with our fellow classmates across... Canada who are participating in these events today. We thank the students at McGill, University of Toronto, and University of Victoria for all of their hard work and perseverance surrounding this difficult matter.
On March 23rd, we will be hosting "Indigenous Voices", a round-table discussion where law students, faculty members, and the greater university community will come together to discuss these issues and promote awareness in the Faculty of Law. Please keep your eyes on your email for more details in the near future.
