About Jamaican Canadian Association Alberta

The Jamaican Canadian Association Alberta (JCAA) was formed in 1980 out of a need to share the Jamaican culture with the wider Calgary community. The association was registered in 1982. Since it's inception, the JCAA has initiated and /or supported several community events and participated in activities in Jamaica, within and outside the City of Calgary. The Association has been an integral part of the Caribbean Community Council and it's Caribbean festival, Carifest, participating in such activities as the Parade, Ms. Carifest Pageant, the Gospel Concert and the Sunshine Festival on Prince's Island Park. In order to maintain communication among its members, the JCAA publishes a quarterly newsletter, hosts a number of social events throughout the year, and hosts a general meeting on the last Saturday of each month.
