As we wrap up the last day of the 2018 season, we would like to thank all of our fantastic guides(from both locations - up on Pyramid Bench and Jasper Park Stables at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge). The season could not have been possible with them. And an even bigger thank you to Dale and Mary, for teaching the guides the ins and outs of life at the stables. Hope to see everyone again next summer!
With the late summer snow come and gone, don’t forget that we are open until Monday, October 8th. So why not bundle up and join us for a ride before the snow decides to stick around for the winter?
Some days, when they aren't busy with rides, the guides like to learn and improve on different skills. This time it was roping. While not every throw hit the target, accuracy and skill improved as the day went on.
Meet Apache, this quirky little paint is one of the older horses here at the stables, and nicknamed by our staff as the grandfather of the herd. As a former flag horse, nothing phases this fellow on the trail.
Back to some of our ponies here at JRS. Meet Buster, another fantastic kids pony who loves to take a stroll through our trails.
Meet Vic and Jasper, this partnership has been together for 5 years here at Jasper Riding Stables. Vic can often be seen beside Dale as his right hand man.
This handsome fellow is one of our driving and riding horses called Pan. He is a Belgium draft horse, who not only enjoys our trails but also helps with the wagon rides and sleigh rides in the winter.
Our guide Claire helping Dale make sure the horses have enough hay for the rest of the season.
Meet Caelan, she graduated from University of Guelph studying international development She loves to travel and runs a travel blog. Caelan loves birds, nature, and has been riding since she was 9. Coming from Ontario, Caelan is here for her second season and she is riding Bert.
Meet Sergeant, he likes to march along the trails here at JS. As a former guide horse, he knows his way around the trails.
Next up we have Clyde, who is part of one of our driving pairs with his sister Bonnie. They are 1/4 Andalusian and 3/4 Percheron. Clyde is one of our tallest horses here at JS.
After work rides are the best, it’s not all about work here.
A little visitor to the staff accommodation.
Up next is Marine from Montreal. She started riding in an English saddle at the age of 6 and loves doing trail rides wherever she goes. She is currently studying veterinary medicine and would like to specialize in physiotherapy later on. If you have her as a guide, be sure to talk to her about animals as well as Star Wars!
Yesterday’s 1 hour ride, can you spot the surprise guest in the left corner?
Meet Whiskey, one of our very handsome draft horses. Not only is he a cool dude, but he also stared in the movie The Revenant alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.
Next up is Bugs. One of our best leader horses. Ready for all your little cowgirls and cowboys!
