In this four-hour class, we’ll dive into a guitar and its parts and tour it from top to bottom. You’ll gain knowledge you can put to use immediately. The course will cover basic knowledge of how guitars work and is perfect for those who are interested in setting up and maintaining their own guitar or may be interested in a career as a Luthier or guitar tech in the future. This course is designed to study the basic principles of guitar setup and maintenance including:
Basic ev...aluation – “what’s going on here?” Function and use of truss rods – “I”ve got a kink in my neck” Strings and tuning gears – “all strung out” Saddle and nut adjustment – “how low can you go?” High/ Loose Frets - "My guitar sounds like a beehive" Basic Fret levelling, crowning and polishing to a mirror finish. Bridge types and adjustment – “has anybody seen the bridge” Tremolo setup – “bombs away” Pickups / adjustment – “with a ten foot pole” Tools, general care and cleaning Humidity control and concerns Q&A on the guitar manufacture industry "Why are they not telling me this?" Wood types and uses - "I thought this was solid?" Q&A with Luthier Chris Jaster
The goal of the of the course is two fold -You will have successfully setup your own instrument -You will have all the knowledge of what is required to setup your guitar and the tools required to do so -Even if you send out your instruments to be repaired you will be able to recognize whether or not it is a setup issue or something more serious

The people of Medicine Hat are very fortunate to have a man like Chris Jaster living in it because if you need anything that is guitar related then Chris is the man to see. I have bought many guitars from Chris and his prices are always reasonable . Chris's knowledge is priceless period !!

User

Just wanted to give a shoutout to Chris from JBC Guitars, 1201 Kingsway Ave SE!

I went to do some shopping for my guitar that I was given earlier this week. I went to purchase some strings, capo and some picks. After a Little chatting with Chris, he decided that since I was evacuated from my Fort McMurray home that my money was not needed. I sincerely apreciate your help Chris and all your kindness Medicine Hat!

User

JBC Guitars is a great place for all your music needs.Very good customer service and Chris Jaster "owner" is very passionate and takes pride in what he does. Thanks for all the help Chris.

User

I bought a Godin Fifth Ave. Uptown GT from Chris over two years ago. He has helped me "tweek" it to my needs and has ALWAYS been helpful. My new Seagull SWS Mahogany is on its way and should be arriving at JBC shortly. I can not reccomend Chris highly enough.

User

Great place. Got my simon and patrick cw gt cedar a3t here. Searched a long time for a guitar of this sound that didnt cost in the $6,000 range. I would pit it against the 914ce and k28 in terms of throaty, baritone, resounding tones.

User

Great people. Great guitars! Thanks so much. Will tell everyone about JBC.

User

Chris set up my acoustic for me. He was very friendly and took time to listen to the questions I asked him. He is obviously very skilled and knowledgeable. I took my guitar home to play it and it sounds and plays fantastic. Well worth it. Thanks Chris.

User

Chris really knows his stuff when it comes to setting up a guitar.
